As a huge animation fan, I was so excited to see a real gem from the 2010s finally hit Netflix! It’s a movie that always got a little lost in the shuffle back then, with everyone talking about hits like Inside Out and Frozen. Disney+ definitely has the biggest animation library, but Netflix has a surprisingly good selection – everything from fun shows like KPop Demon Hunters to classics like How to Train Your Dragon. And now, it’s even better with this seriously underrated movie joining the lineup. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this one!
Good news for Netflix users: The Lego Movie is now available to stream! This critically-acclaimed 2014 animated film was unavailable for a while, but returned to Netflix on March 1st. The movie tells the story of an average Lego worker who’s accidentally believed to be a hero and tasked with saving the universe from an evil villain who wants to freeze everything with glue.
The Lego Movie Is One of the Best Animated Films of the 2010s
It’s unfortunate that The Lego Movie doesn’t get enough credit, because it’s easily one of the best animated films of the 2010s. Its consistently high ratings prove it: it boasts a 96% approval rating from critics and an 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the top-rated animated film of 2014 on that site. It also received a strong score of 83/100 on Metacritic.
What makes The Lego Movie so great? It could have easily been a long Lego commercial, but it surprised everyone with a surprisingly touching story. Beyond the fast-paced, fun adventure, the movie beautifully explores the relationship between parents and children, offering a message about the power of creativity that appeals to all ages. It’s also packed with quick-witted jokes and pop culture references that everyone will enjoy. Plus, the animation is fantastic – it uses a unique CGI style that looks like stop-motion, perfectly capturing the feeling of playing with Lego bricks.
What’s New on Netflix?
Netflix remains a leading streaming service thanks to its consistently high-quality content. March brought even more great titles to the platform, including several family favorites. On March 1st, viewers gained access to films like Goosebumps, Matilda, The Swan Princess, and Trolls, alongside other popular movies such as Deepwater Horizon, Jurassic World, Misery, and Zombieland.
