James Bond is one of the most recognizable characters in entertainment history. Created by Ian Fleming in 1953, this British spy has become a cultural icon, captivating audiences across novels, films, video games, and other media for generations with his thrilling adventures and romantic relationships. While there’s currently a pause in the Bond film series as producers search for the next actor to play 007, fans won’t have to wait long to revisit his exciting world.
This September, Titan Comics will release Ian Fleming’s James Bond Signature Comic Strip Collection Vol. 1, a new book featuring the first seven full-length James Bond newspaper comic strips. These stories were influential in shaping the James Bond films as we know them. The collection showcases the work of artist John McLusky and presents Ian Fleming’s original adventures in comic strip format. ComicBook is offering a first look at the book, which arrives on September 8th.
The James Bond Comic Strip Had Serious Influence on Big Screen Bond

Before James Bond appeared in theaters with Dr. No, his adventures were first brought to life as comic strips for the Daily Express, starting in 1958. Illustrator John McLusky adapted Casino Royale and then five more of Fleming’s novels – Live and Let Die, Moonraker, Diamonds Are Forever, From Russia with Love, Dr. No, and Goldfinger – into comic form. The series ended in May 1961. Interestingly, these strips played a key role in defining Bond’s iconic look and style, significantly influencing how Sean Connery would portray the character on the big screen in 1962. Looking at the artwork now, it’s remarkable how closely Connery resembled the Bond depicted in the strips – it’s as if he was born to play the role.

This new collection from Titan Comics gathers six classic James Bond stories, making it essential for any fan. It features the original comic adaptations – the very first versions created – which differ from later interpretations. The book also includes a special treat: a large collection of scanned artwork, carefully chosen by the McLusky family from their personal archive. This offers a fresh and exciting way to enjoy these well-loved stories, and maybe even discover them for the first time.
Titan Comics will release Ian Fleming’s James Bond Signature Comic Strip Collection Vol. 1 on September 8, 2026. You can pre-order it now from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Forbidden Planet (for customers in the UK and Europe).
