As a huge Pokemon fan, I’m always excited about hunting those legendary creatures! Luckily, Pokemon Pokopia has a really solid system for finding them. But, there’s a little bit you need to do beforehand. You basically have to collect Poke Dolls first – they’re the key to unlocking the Dream Islands where the legendaries hang out.
This Pokémon Pokopia guide will show you how to reliably find and catch Legendary Pokémon using a proven strategy.
How To Unlock Dream Islands
To start collecting Legendary Pokémon, you’ll first need to unlock Dream Islands. These special islands are where you can find many useful items, like Stardust, Star Pieces, and various other materials and resources.
Once it gets dark, exit Withered Wasteland through the west side. After you’re outside, turn right and look for a single Drifloon. Talk to it to start its special quest.
Help Drifloon find what it needs for its home, then talk to it again – it will ask for Poke Dolls. If you haven’t found any yet, Drifloon will give you a clue about where to get one close by. Completing Drifloon’s request will unlock access to Dream Islands.
Dream Island Mechanics
Drifloon can fly you to special Dream Islands whenever you want. First, you need to find and examine a Poke Doll, which will call Drifloon. Each different Poke Doll leads to a unique island, but you can only visit one island per day in the game.
After you land on the island, it will stay the same for the rest of the day, even if you leave and come back. This means you can’t gather all the resources and then reset the island to get them again. Also, while you’re on the island, you can’t use the time-skip feature or visit other islands until the next day.
Okay, so if you want to advance the date in the game, you’ve got two options. You can just play and let time pass normally, or you can use the Time Travel feature. But a really important thing to remember is you have to be outside of a Dream Island when you use Time Travel to move the date forward one day. Otherwise, it won’t work!
When you’re finished on the island and want to go back, use the ‘Return Home’ feature to instantly teleport to Drifloon, saving you time and effort.
Stardust And Star Pieces
When playing with Poke Dolls, pay attention to the main materials found on each Dream Island. Also, be sure to collect Stardust – a gooey material – as you play. Collecting 99 Stardust will let you create a Star Piece.
If you give a Star Piece to a Pokémon you haven’t caught yet, it will give you a gift back. If you open that gift while you have an empty habitat, a Pokémon of that same species will appear there, even if the habitat isn’t ideal for it.
Hunting Legendary Pokemon
You can find powerful Legendary Pokemon in the caves on Dream Islands. They don’t always appear right away, but you can simply restart your visit to an island if you don’t find one you like, using the method described earlier, until you get lucky.
Even if you don’t catch a Legendary Pokemon, the yellow Pokeballs you find will still contain useful items like Pokemetal and details about Pokemon habitats.
You’ll be able to spot a Legendary Pokemon in caves because they’re held in a special enclosure. Just break open the enclosure to catch them!
This covers everything you need to know about mastering Dream Islands and finding Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia.
