JoJo fans have been eagerly awaiting this moment! After finishing JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, they’ve been counting down the days to see Johnny Joestar’s story animated. Now that Steel Ball Run is available on Netflix, they can finally experience what many consider to be one of Hirohiko Araki’s best storylines. However, there’s been surprisingly little news about what will happen with the series after this arc, leaving viewers wondering what’s next as they dive into this exciting new chapter.
The first episode of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run is now streaming on Netflix, but it’s unclear when the second episode will be released. Neither Netflix nor the animation studio, David Production, has announced a date. The first episode was a full forty-five minutes long, leading many fans to hope for a return to weekly releases. However, it doesn’t seem like the next episode, scheduled for March 26th, is guaranteed. While some JoJo fans may be disappointed, an upcoming event could offer more information about the future of the series and the characters Johnny and Gyro.
When Will Steel Ball Run Race On?

We should find out when the second episode will be released pretty soon. Anime Japan, a big anime event with a focus on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, is happening this month on March 28th. Several key voice actors will be there, including Shogo Sakata (Johnny Joestar), Yohei Azakami (Gyro Zeppeli), Kaito Ishikawa (Diego Brando), Masaaki Mizunaka (Sandman), and Kenichiro Matsuda (Pocoloco). While we don’t know exactly what will be announced, it’s likely we’ll get some clues about the future of Steel Ball Run.
While it’s possible new episodes of Steel Ball Run will come out weekly, Netflix and David haven’t announced a release date for episode two yet. The first episode of this new JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure story felt complete, as it concluded the first part of the cross-country race. Now that Gyro Zeppeli has taken the lead, viewers can expect even more exciting developments as the story unfolds.
Why The Steel Ball Run Premiere is Worth Watching
Even though there’s been some debate about when the next episode will be released, the first episode of Steel Ball Run is definitely worth watching. Many fans consider this storyline to be one of the best in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, as it builds a completely new world after the events of Stone Ocean. Set in the late 1800s, the race features a diverse and interesting group of characters. Surprisingly, their personalities alone create a lot of tension, even though the first episode doesn’t include the signature Stand abilities. It’s also unique to see that some competitors aren’t even on horses – Sandman runs on foot, and Avdul rides a camel – making the anime adaptation
Though Johnny Joestar isn’t closely related to previous Joestars beyond sharing a name, he’s a fascinating character. After losing the ability to walk in a dramatic incident, he finds a way to ride again, making him a compelling hero. Gyro is also a strong protagonist, and his unique technique with steel balls functions in a way that’s reminiscent of Stand abilities. While the anime hasn’t revealed the main villain yet, longtime fans of the JoJo series likely have a good idea of who it will be.
