Zoe Slater, played by Michelle Ryan, has always wanted to connect with her son on EastEnders. Just when she finally had the chance, she faced a disappointing setback.
Josh Goodwin, the long-lost son of Zoe and Anthony Trueman (played by Joshua Vaughan), recently arrived in Walford. He came with his adoptive mother, Sandra (Dawn Steele), who was investigating the upcoming murder trial of his twin sister, Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness).
Denise and Kim were very suspicious of her at first, thinking she might be a journalist.
They were relieved to learn who she really was and encouraged Josh to get to know his grandfather, Patrick (Rudolph Walker), which is now happening.
Before the meeting, Patrick’s wife, Yolande, offered him some comforting advice as he struggled with his sadness over Anthony. He was worried that meeting Josh, who reminded him of his son, would be too emotionally difficult to handle.

The moment Josh and Sandra walked in, the atmosphere became incredibly tense. Even though Yolande, Denise, and Kim tried to ease things, it was still very awkward. No one knew how to talk about what was happening, and Patrick, clearly upset, quickly went to the kitchen by himself.
Josh continued to pursue a connection, eager to build a relationship. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to them, something dramatic was happening nearby.
Tommy Moon overheard Avani arguing about Patrick and Josh with Amy, and told his family, the Slaters. Kat initially wanted to confront them herself, but Zoe realized she was the only one who could handle the situation.

She rushed to the door, banged on it, and insisted on speaking with Josh. He quickly ducked into the kitchen, while Denise and Kim tried to distract her by pretending not to notice anything was wrong.
Zoe was determined to get her way, but Sandra firmly told her to stay away from her son, explaining that he wasn’t ready to meet her. Realizing she had overstepped, a disappointed Zoe backed down.

Following a rough day, Josh headed to The Prince Albert pub to feel better. He ran into Oscar Branning (played by Pierre Counihan-Moullier), who was also having a bad time, and the two decided to spend some time together.
Okay, so Oscar Branning… predictable, really. The guy just had to make a move on Josh, and when they kissed, it was a major wake-up call for the newcomer. It quickly became obvious that Josh is stepping into a town where everyone’s tangled up in each other’s lives, and he’s got a lot to figure out about the existing relationships in Walford.
How will Oscar react when he learns that Josh is his ex-girlfriend Jasmine’s twin?
