Pokémon Alola Seaglass Could Be The Best Pokémon Game In Years

2026 could be a huge year for Pokémon fans! While a major new Pokémon game isn’t coming until 2025, several other games are planned for release this year.

Lots of new games are coming out for fans every month. These games explore both brand new areas and revisit beloved locations, like the recently released Pokémon Alola Seaglass, which is generating a lot of excitement online, especially on platforms like Reddit.

Pokémon Alola Seaglass Has Gamers Seriously Hyped

I Can’t Wait To Revisit Alola

Although some fans had mixed feelings about the Sun and Moon games, the Alola region itself is widely loved, so it’s not surprising people are excited about a potential return. Nemo622, the creator of popular Pokémon hacks Emerald Seaglass and Pokémon Lazarus, has announced they’ve started working on Alola Seaglass, a reimagining of the seventh generation of Pokémon games. One Reddit user, familiar with Nemo622’s previous projects, expressed enthusiasm, saying the community needs more hacks for the seventh generation, especially for the Game Boy Advance. They noted that previous hacks tended to be very challenging, and are hopeful that this new project will offer a more enjoyable experience, building on the quality-of-life improvements seen in Lazarus and Emerald Seaglass.

One user pointed out that this seems logical because the base for many Alola region features – like Z-Moves and the stat boosts of Totem Pokémon – is already present in the ‘pokeemerald-expansion’ modification. They also believe that mimicking the Ride Pokémon system, which replaced HMs, shouldn’t be too hard, as similar replacements have been available in decompilation projects for some time.

A fan pointed out the Alola region is currently trending, mentioning a new fan-made game called ‘Ultra Eclipse’ by u/Phaneropterinae. This means there will soon be two fan-made games recreating the Alola region.

Both Pokémon Emerald Seaglass and Pokémon Lazarus are widely considered to be among the best fan-made Pokémon games available. Emerald Seaglass stands out because it’s built on the popular Emerald game but adds a lot of new content, including playable characters, improved graphics, and a refreshed look. It successfully keeps the charm of the original Game Boy Advance games while making them visually more appealing.

Released last year, Pokémon Lazarus has quickly become a popular fan-made game. It’s set in the brand-new Ilos region, inspired by Greece, and features several updates like a revised experience system, quick access to your PC, unique ‘Seaglass Emerald’ Pokémon, and around 400 Pokémon spanning generations one through nine – including Mega Evolutions from Pokémon Z-A.

No matter which generation of Pokémon you enjoy most, you can likely find a fan-made game or remake for it. We can anticipate even more of these as time goes on, with fans creating experiences to tide players over between official Pokémon releases.
