Why Emily Osment Isn’t Part of Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Reunion

Emily Osment say what?

Emily Osment, who starred as Lilly Truscott—Miley Stewart’s best friend—on the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana from 2006 to 2011, has announced she won’t be participating in the show’s 20th anniversary celebration, which will stream on Disney+ starting March 24th.

The cast isn’t holding any grudges. Emily shared in an Instagram video on March 23rd that she couldn’t attend the reunion because she was filming her show, George & Mandy’s First Marriage. Despite this, she still wanted to acknowledge and celebrate the anniversary of Hannah Montana.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to reach out and say a huge thank you for all your incredible support over the years! It truly means the world to me that you still enjoy the show, and I’m so proud to be a part of bringing it to you. Seriously, your loyalty is amazing!

I was so touched reading Emily’s post about Hannah Montana! She shared that the show really changed her life, and it’s amazing to hear how it instilled in her a lifelong love of comedy. She said it taught her so much – discipline, patience, perfect timing, and how to act professionally, even at a young age. It’s incredible how much of an impact that experience had on her!

I truly appreciate all of your kind messages, and I feel so fortunate to have been a part of this incredible, groundbreaking TV show. Thank you for welcoming me into your homes, and I hope to continue being a part of your lives for years to come.

Honestly, as a huge Miley fan, it was wild to find out the anniversary special she was hinting at wasn’t even planned when she first started talking about it! She actually admitted it hadn’t been created yet, which was pretty surprising.

In a recent interview with Variety, she revealed a surprising strategy she learned from Dolly Parton. She explained that Parton advised her to start promoting something before it’s actually created, making it impossible to be turned down. She jokingly admitted to putting this advice into practice by announcing a Hannah Montana 20th-anniversary special even though it hadn’t been developed yet.

And from there, the special revolved around the 33-year-old’s vision.

Disney executive Charlie Andrews explained that the project was made possible by her strong determination. He emphasized that she consistently prioritized the fans, and that commitment influenced every choice she made.

Miley Cyrus continues to be a major force in music. Since her days as Hannah Montana, she’s released six studio albums: Bangerz (2013), Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015), Younger Now (2017), Plastic Hearts (2020), Endless Summer Vacation (2023), and Something Beautiful (coming in 2025). In 2023, she finally earned her first Grammy Award for her popular song, “Flowers.”

Following her split from Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus dated both Cody Simpson and Kaitlynn Carter. She is currently engaged to Maxx Morando.

Following the conclusion of Hannah Montana in 2011 after four seasons, the actress continued her career by providing voice work for animated series like Family Guy and Rainbow Brite. She also made appearances on shows including Mom, Young & Hungry, Cleaners, and The Kominsky Method. Currently, she’s starring in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage on CBS.

I’ve been a fan of this actor ever since Hannah Montana! It was sad to see that show end, but I was so excited to keep following his career. I really enjoyed seeing him in shows like Kickin’ It on Disney XD, and I thought WTH: Welcome to Howler and Hotel Du Loone were great too. I was thrilled to hear he married Katie Drysen back in 2017 – they seem like a lovely couple!

The actor was on the show Pair of Kings and later hosted PrankStars after Hannah Montana finished its run. In 2011, at age 20, he was arrested for driving under the influence. This led to his character being removed from Pair of Kings and PrankStars being canceled. More recently, he’s continued acting, appearing in voice roles on the animated series Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy’s Law.

The actor has been in several TV shows and movies recently, including The Middle, Jean-Claude Van Johnson, Ben-Hur, and Pitch Perfect 3. He had a leading role in the 2020 film The King of Staten Island, directed by Pete Davidson and Judd Apatow, and now appears in The Fallout.

She returned to Broadway in late 2011 with a role in the revival of Godspell. Beyond acting, she’s a singer and even opened for the Jonas Brothers during their 2012 Asia tour. More recently, she’s made guest appearances on television shows like Baby Daddy and Charmed. In November 2018, she announced her engagement to Scott Kline, and they married in June of the following year with Uzo Aduba as her maid of honor.

I was so excited to keep seeing Miley after Hannah Montana wrapped up! She didn’t disappear, which was amazing. I loved watching her guest star on shows like Melissa & Joey and even The Young and the Restless. Plus, I definitely made time to watch Life-Size 2 when it came out – it was so fun to see her in a TV movie!

I’ve been a fan of this guy for years! You might remember him from season seven of Dancing With The Stars – he did so well, finishing in fourth place. Then, in 2012, he put out his first album, which was amazing. But he didn’t stop there! He kept acting too, popping up in a couple of episodes of Melissa & Joey, and even braved the Sharknado universe – he was in both Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens and Sharknado 5: Global Swarming! He’s seriously talented and always entertaining.

Okay, so Billy Ray Cyrus, like, seriously, he’s amazing! Even with Miley doing her thing, he never stopped making music. And can you believe in 2019 he finally got a number one hit?! It was that “Old Town Road” song with Lil Nas X – the remix, of course. I was so proud! Plus, he was on this really funny show, Still the King, in 2016 and 2017. Honestly, he just keeps getting better, and I’m here for it!

Miley Cyrus’s younger sister was on six episodes of the show Hannah Montana. She started her own music career in 2016, releasing her first song, “Make Me (Cry).” In 2018, she briefly dated Lil Xan, and they recorded a song together called “Live or Die,” but they split up after just a few months.

She got engaged to designer Pinkus in 2023.
