Be warned, this article reveals key plot points from the first episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2! The new season has started, and it hints at the return of a significant hero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock, and he’s facing a lot of challenges. The first season ended with Kingpin declaring war on vigilantes, giving his task force free rein to act however they choose.
The second season kicks off by reintroducing the gritty world of New York City, where Daredevil and his allies are forced to operate secretly as they continue their fight against Wilson Fisk. The first episode is packed with events – Daredevil nearly having his identity exposed, Cherry suffering a heart attack, Fisk’s ship sinking, and much more. Because of all this, viewers may have overlooked a thrilling hint about what’s to come.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2’s Premiere Features A Small Netflix Hero Tease
While Jon Bernthal won’t be returning as the Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, another familiar face from the old Netflix Marvel shows will be appearing: Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. Though she doesn’t physically appear in the premiere, her influence is hinted at. After Karen Page and Matt Murdock share a kiss, Karen mentions she’s going to contact a friend, strongly suggesting it’s Jessica.
Karen later shares that her friend was actually Jessica Jones, and Jessica had managed to get a list of everyone on the ship. This list helps them identify the ship’s captain and first mate, which is important because Fisk then gives the order for them to be killed. Even though Jessica Jones doesn’t appear in the first episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, she’s already playing a role in what happens.
What Role Could Jessica Jones Play In Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?
Jessica’s importance to the story will increase as the season progresses, and the ending of the first episode may hint at the reason. Because Cherry suffers a heart attack, diverting Daredevil’s attention and leading to his unmasking by the AVTF before Bullseye can finish the job, it’s possible Cherry will be unable to participate in future events.
Who could be a better addition to Daredevil’s team than Jessica Jones? As a talented private investigator with superpowers, she’d be a perfect fit. Her current support of Matt and Karen hints she’s already taking on that kind of role, and if she officially joins Daredevil’s inner circle, it would make things much harder for Fisk.
It would also fit well for Jessica Jones to have a significant part in season two of Daredevil: Born Again. Krysten Ritter and Charlie Cox clearly had great chemistry in The Defenders, and their characters’ witty back-and-forth was a highlight of the MCU shows. Bringing that fun dynamic back would be fantastic, and by hinting at Jessica’s return now, Daredevil: Born Again is already building anticipation.
