Someone closely involved with the PlayStation Spider-Man games from Insomniac Games appears to have accidentally hinted at a new installment. Although Insomniac is currently prioritizing the upcoming launch of Marvel’s Wolverine, it was widely expected they would eventually revisit Spider-Man. Now, confirmation that they will continue the Spider-Man series has come about in an unintended way.
Ben Jordan, the actor who portrays Spider-Man/Peter Parker’s face in the game series, recently posted a photo on Instagram of himself doing motion capture work. Although he could have been working on any project, he added the caption “IYKYK” with a spider emoji, strongly suggesting it was for another Spider-Man game – likely Marvel’s Spider-Man 3. This indicates that Insomniac Games is at least starting to plan the game, and will probably begin full development after their Wolverine game is released.
Spider-Man 3 Has Been an Open Secret for Years

It was surprising to see Jordan reveal a new Spider-Man game this way, but it wasn’t surprising to learn one was in development. With over 50 million copies sold of Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the series is a huge success for PlayStation, so another major game was inevitable.
Insomniac Games set the stage for a third Spider-Man game at the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. While the exact story isn’t known yet, the game’s ending strongly suggested new characters and a possible villain for the sequel. This indicates that Insomniac has been planning to continue the Spider-Man series for years, even if the next installment, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, doesn’t release until a future PlayStation console like the PS6.
As we discussed, Marvel’s Wolverine will be available on September 15th, and it will only be released for the PlayStation 5.
