Just a heads up – this is going to spoil some major events from episode 5 of Daredevil: Born Again season 2! I have to say, this season is really delivering, and this episode felt huge – it actually confirmed a really important character‘s death. Losing characters isn’t new to comic book adaptations, especially in the MCU shows. We’ve seen it happen a lot, both on Disney+ and back in the Netflix Defenders series.
Charlie Cox’s Daredevil has faced a lot of loss throughout his story. Over the three seasons on Netflix, Matt Murdock experienced the deaths of several important people, including his father, Elektra, and Stick. The Daredevil series was known for being particularly violent, with villains like Kingpin, the Punisher, and Bullseye causing numerous deaths.
The emotional stakes remained high in Daredevil: Born Again, just as they were in the original series. The first season of the Disney+ revival featured a shocking death: Bullseye, played by Wilson Bethel, killed Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson). Daredevil was forced to listen to his close friend die during their fight, a truly devastating scene. Now, the second season has claimed another life.
At the end of episode 4 of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, Vanessa Fisk, played by Ayelet Zurer, was struck in the head by glass during a chaotic scene at her husband’s boxing match. Although it appeared she had died, she surprisingly recovered and was able to speak with Kingpin in episode 5. But the show didn’t leave things there.
The MCU Has Confirmed A Major Netflix Character Death
By the end of episode 5, Vanessa tragically dies, and Wilson Fisk is helpless to save her. The scene is particularly moving because, in season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, Vanessa was able to briefly wake up and share a final conversation with Fisk before her death.
Episode 5 is a particularly emotional installment, largely built around flashbacks to the original Netflix Daredevil series. The recent deaths of Foggy and Vanessa at the hands of Bullseye make revisiting their happy memories in these flashbacks especially impactful. With both characters now gone, Daredevil: Born Again is beginning a new chapter.
How Vanessa’s Death Should Impact The Rest Of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?
Though Wilson Fisk has political ambitions, his relationship with Vanessa was the most important thing in his life. Her death will likely transform Kingpin into a truly dangerous villain in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, as he now has nothing left to lose. This poses a serious threat to Matt Murdock and his allies, and the deaths seen so far in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 might not be the last.
