Rumors about what’s next for the God of War series keep appearing, and one in particular – a prequel spinoff – won’t go away.
So, MP1st dropped some info about the next God of War game, and it sounds really interesting! Apparently, it’s not just another direct sequel, but almost like a whole new series within the God of War world. They’re calling it a new franchise, which is pretty cool – it’s like they’re expanding the universe in a big way!
The report suggests the next game will let players control Faye, Kratos’ former partner from the Norse saga, and the Norse god Tyr. While Kratos won’t be a playable character, he is expected to appear in the game somehow.
According to MP1st, Faye won’t be alone – she’ll be accompanied by a companion that’s a wobbly, gelatinous cube. The game will also include a talking sword, which is rumored to be Merlin, the famous wizard from Arthurian legends.
So, from what I’ve heard, this game is going to be HUGE in terms of settings! We’re not just talking one world, but a bunch of different lands inspired by myths from all over the place – like Mayan, Chinese, and Japanese legends will all be woven in. It sounds like a really cool mix!
The report also mentions a claim from gaming insider Tom Henderson, who recently said on a podcast that a new God of War game could be revealed in April. He suggests the announcement might happen during this week’s rumored State of Play event, although that event is expected to focus on games from other developers.
Currently, all information about the new God of War game is unconfirmed rumor, but there’s a lot of talk about it. A recent report from MP1st suggests the game might feature several different mythologies, which supports the idea that the character Tyr will play a role.
We expect to have official news soon. Santa Monica Studio is already remaking the original God of War trilogy with updated graphics and gameplay, but they’re also working on other unannounced projects.
