Wolverine has become one of Marvel’s most beloved characters, but his journey to popularity was a long one. Having lived since the 1800s, Logan has participated in nearly every major war of the last century and encountered many ancient beings. He’s shared adventures with heroes like Puck, Nick Fury, and Captain America, and faced enemies like the Winter Soldier. He also has a history with Weapon X, helped train a young Black Widow, and was even intended to lead the superhero team Alpha Flight. Throughout his time with the X-Men and beyond, Wolverine has teamed up with almost every other hero in the Marvel Universe.
Logan, often quiet and reserved, can be difficult for many heroes to work with. He doesn’t hesitate to show his dislike for certain individuals, and Wolverine holds lasting grudges against ten particular Marvel heroes.
10) The Winter Soldier

Wolverine and the Winter Soldier (formerly Bucky) were allies during World War II, fighting together on multiple occasions. Later, after Bucky became the brainwashed Winter Soldier, the Soviets sent him to Japan on a mission to kill Wolverine. However, Wolverine wasn’t there; instead, his wife, Itsu, was killed. She was pregnant at the time, and a man named Romulus took their child and raised him, Daken, to despise Wolverine. After Wolverine recovered his memories and Bucky broke free from his programming, their relationship became strained. Ultimately, all the trouble between Wolverine and his son Daken stemmed from Romulus’s actions.
9) Beast

The Krakoa era brought huge changes to the X-Men, and Beast was one of the most dramatically affected. He’d been making questionable decisions for years – joining the secret Illuminati, bringing past versions of the original X-Men to the present, and siding with the Inhumans during a crisis. When he became leader of X-Force, the mutant nation’s intelligence agency, he became increasingly ruthless. Eventually, he secretly arranged for Wolverine to be killed and then resurrected as a weapon. Wolverine was understandably furious and relentlessly pursued his former friend. Now, a version of Beast from the past is active, and Wolverine avoids him at all costs. If Wolverine ever encounters the original Beast, a violent confrontation is inevitable.
8) Deadpool

Deadpool is surprisingly complex, though he’s often more enthusiastic about others than they are about him. He and Wolverine have a history of fighting, and even since Deadpool started acting like a hero, he’s been fixated on Wolverine. While they still argue, Wolverine seems to be getting more used to Deadpool. Still, like many heroes who work with him, Wolverine finds Deadpool irritating and will sometimes even stab him – knowing Deadpool can heal quickly.
7) Namor

Namor, the King of Atlantis, is often considered Marvel’s most unlikeable hero, and it’s easy to see why. He’s incredibly arrogant and doesn’t mind making enemies. Even when working alongside heroes like Wolverine as an X-Man, he struggles to get along with others. Namor looks down on Logan, and Wolverine feels the same way in return. They’ve clashed in battles multiple times, and while they respect each other’s strength, they definitely don’t enjoy being around each other.
6) Emma Frost

It’s no surprise that Emma Frost and Wolverine don’t get along. Emma frequently makes cutting remarks about Logan, criticizing almost everything he does. While she was with Cyclops, she openly took Logan’s side in their long-standing rivalry. Wolverine dislikes Emma intensely – from her personality to her behavior, and especially the fact that she quickly became involved with Scott after Jean Grey’s death. Though they don’t actively fight, it’s clear they have a strong dislike for each other.
5) Black Panther

Despite being Avengers at times, Black Panther and Wolverine haven’t interacted much. While Storm, a close friend of Wolverine’s and later wife of Black Panther, was married to T’Challa, Wolverine and Storm didn’t spend much time together, and Black Panther wasn’t usually around. A major conflict erupted when Wolverine lost his healing ability and ended up in Wakanda, leading to a fight between the two. They briefly teamed up to defend Wakanda from Orchis, who were stealing vibranium, but remained distant. Any potential for a friendship now seems lost, replaced by mutual dislike.
4) Magneto

Even though Magneto is now considered a hero, his relationship with Wolverine remains deeply strained. They’ve fought countless times as members of opposing sides, and Wolverine never used to fear Magneto’s magnetic powers, even against his adamantium skeleton. But during the ‘Fatal Attractions’ storyline, Magneto removed the adamantium from Wolverine’s body – a brutal act that destroyed any chance of them becoming friends. While Wolverine will reluctantly team up with Magneto when necessary, he makes it clear how much he dislikes him. A prime example of their animosity occurred on Krakoa when Wolverine stole Magneto’s helmet, used it to fight a psychic enemy, and then deliberately urinated in it before returning it – a gesture that perfectly illustrates the depth of their mutual contempt.
3) Punisher

Although both the Punisher and Wolverine share a background as soldiers and aren’t afraid to kill their enemies, they haven’t gotten along well over the years. In fact, they’ve fought several times, most famously in Punisher (Vol. 6) #17 where Frank Castle delivered a brutal beating to Logan. This fight only deepened their animosity, and they now actively dislike each other.
2) Hulk

Wolverine and the Hulk have clashed in some incredibly intense fights. Their rivalry began when Wolverine first appeared during a battle between the Hulk and Wendigo, and they’ve been fighting on and off ever since. While the Hulk usually wins – after all, he’s defeated the entire Avengers team – Wolverine has managed to win a few times too. Despite their strong dislike for each other, they’ve occasionally teamed up, proving they can put their differences aside when necessary.
1) Cyclops

Cyclops and Wolverine are famous for their long-standing rivalry. While many believe it started because of Wolverine’s feelings for Jean Grey, a look back at the early days of the revamped X-Men team – starting with issue #94 – reveals they butted heads from the very beginning, quickly developing a mutual dislike. They’ve fought numerous times since then, but have always managed to work together when necessary. Despite a level of respect and even affection, they remain prone to conflict.
