Okay, so there were rumors going around that Sony might drop a new State of Play this week, specifically on April 16th. But honestly, that date has come and gone, and it’s looking like it’s probably not happening anytime soon. I was hoping for one, but it seems like those whispers were just that – rumors!
It’s unlikely Sony will announce and hold its presentation on the same day. The company usually provides at least 24 hours’ notice before any events.
Nate the Hate, a reliable source of information, suggested the event might happen on April 16th, but he stressed that this date wasn’t certain.
He later followed up saying he’d been unable to lock this date down.
As of right now, it doesn’t seem likely to happen. It’s already April 16th in some parts of the world, and we still haven’t heard anything from Sony.
This information might have been accidentally connected to the upcoming Xbox Metro 2039 livestream, happening later today. Don’t forget about the Galaxies Gaming Showcase scheduled for April 16th, too.
Honestly, all the rumors were kinda confusing to me, especially since summer is practically here already. It just didn’t make a lot of sense to worry about it when we were so close to the release!
With a major State of Play likely planned for June before the Summer Game Fest, many are wondering if there’s enough new game content to justify holding another one so soon in April.
The initial reports suggested we’d hear from smaller game developers, but it seems likely the big publishers are planning announcements for the spring or summer.
It’s still unclear what will happen, but a new State of Play presentation might actually be coming soon, as was previously suggested. However, it definitely won’t be on April 16th.
