Time is Running Out to Stream Seth Rogen’s Animated Superhero Blockbuster on Netflix

When people think of superhero movies, they usually picture the big-budget films from Marvel and DC. But there’s a lot more to discover beyond those universes! Animated superhero films are popular, and so are movies featuring heroes who operate on a more local, street-level scale. If you’re interested in checking one of the best out, you’ll need to stream it on Netflix soon before it’s no longer available.

On Friday, April 17th, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will leave Netflix. Released in theaters in 2023, the animated film stars the voices of Seth Rogen (who also helped write and produce it), Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, Brady Noon, Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph, John Cena, Rose Byrne, Natasia Demetriou, Giancarlo Esposito, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, and Paul Rudd. The movie follows the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as they try to gain acceptance from humans while battling a dangerous group of mutant criminals. It was a critical and commercial success.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Reboots the Iconic Franchise (And a Sequel is Coming)

I’ve been a TMNT fan for ages, and it’s amazing how popular they still are! These guys first showed up way back in 1984, created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman, and people instantly fell in love. But honestly, Mutant Mayhem really blew me away. It felt so fresh and modern, while still capturing everything I love about the Turtles and their world. And it clearly worked – a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and over $180 million at the box office on a $70 million budget? That’s incredible!

The movie Mutant Mayhem was so popular that a sequel was quickly approved, even before the first film hit theaters. The sequel will likely feature Shredder as the main villain – he briefly appeared at the end of Mutant Mayhem – and will bring back much of the original cast and crew. Originally planned for fall 2026, the release date has been moved to August 13, 2027. Despite the delay, fans are still enjoying Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, but those wanting to watch it on Netflix need to do so soon, as it will be leaving the platform in a few days.
