Rihanna has become the first female artist to earn over 200 million certified singles from the RIAA, even though it’s been more than ten years since her last album release.
She’s sold over 200.5 million digital singles, making her one of only a few artists to reach that milestone. Currently, she ranks third best-selling, behind Drake with 277.5 million and Morgan Wallen with 215 million.
Okay, so it’s been ages since Rihanna gave us a proper album! I mean, she’s blessed us with a few songs here and there for movies and stuff, but it feels like forever! The last time she dropped a full album, Anti, was way back in January 2016. Seriously, 2016! I’m dying for new music, honestly. It’s been too long!
Despite this, she’s hinted at making music again on several occasions, most recently sharing a short video of herself working in the studio on Instagram on February 26th.
Rihanna recently gave fans a hint about her next album, saying she’s finally figured out the direction she wants to take it in.
She explained to Harper’s Bazaar in February 2025 that she repeatedly felt her previous album attempts weren’t a good fit. She didn’t feel they represented her personal or artistic growth, and she couldn’t commit to performing them on tour. Eventually, she realized that after taking time away from music, whatever she released next needed to be truly meaningful.
She readily admits she’s a perfectionist and doesn’t rush her work, explaining, “I need to make the wait worthwhile. I won’t release anything that isn’t my best. If people have waited eight years, a little longer won’t matter.”
Okay, so she’s not actively performing right now, but honestly, she’s a total icon and still living her best life! And get this – she and A$AP Rocky are raising these incredibly cool kids – RZA, Riot Rose, and little Rocki – and they’re already instilling a love of good music in them! Rocky (whose real name is Rakim Mayers, by the way – did you know?) just gave us a peek into what they’re listening to as a family, and it’s amazing! I’m seriously living for this perfect family and their taste in music!
He shared that his kids listen to a wide variety of music, ranging from classic artists like Michael Jackson and The Beatles to more experimental genres like psychedelic music and reggae. He described his home as a very musical environment during a February 4th appearance on Celebrity Substitute.
