Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Thomas Crown Affair’ Remake Gets Trailer at CinemaCon

Following his Oscar win for his performance in Sinners, Michael B. Jordan is now promoting his new film, a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. Jordan takes on the role of the wealthy art thief, a part previously played by Steve McQueen and Pierce Brosnan in earlier versions of the story. He presented the first trailer at CinemaCon, where it was very well received by audiences.

Amazon MGM Studios unveiled the first trailer for the new Thomas Crown Affair at CinemaCon on Wednesday, April 15th, offering a preview of Michael B. Jordan’s latest film as director. Variety reports the trailer was a hit, showcasing a stylish, fast-paced, and action-packed reimagining of the classic story. The footage emphasized the playful chemistry between Jordan, playing a wealthy and charming man, and his co-star Adria Arjona, who plays an investigator caught up in his dangerous game. Kenneth Branagh appears as a formidable villain, posing a threat to Jordan’s character.

This time around, the hero isn’t stealing just for the thrill of it. The new footage suggests he’s on a much more personal quest: to recover valuable artifacts that were wrongly taken from their original creators – not to help the wealthy collectors who profit from stolen history. The trailer also showed a glimpse of a more glamorous side, with scenes of romance and physical fitness. Jordan is aiming for a fresh take on the traditional heist movie, describing it as a visually stunning and exciting experience best enjoyed in theaters.

I’m really excited for the new Thomas Crown Affair movie! It’s coming out in theaters and IMAX on March 5, 2027 – it’s been a long wait, almost 28 years since the Pierce Brosnan version and 59 years since the classic Steve McQueen film. This will only be Michael B. Jordan’s second time directing, following Creed III in 2023. He’s been super busy producing and acting in huge franchises like Black Panther, the Creed movies, and the upcoming Sinners in 2025. But for this film, he’s doing it all – directing, producing, and starring! The script is really solid too, written by Drew Pearce (who did The Fall Guy), building on an earlier draft from Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. It feels like a really fresh take on a classic.

This is a developing story…
