Crimson Desert’s Next PS5 Patch Could Be Its Biggest Yet

Korean game developer Pearl Abyss, known for consistently releasing updates, is pausing for a week to thoroughly test a major new patch for Crimson Desert on PlayStation 5. This patch is expected to be their largest update for the game so far.

Since the game’s release on March 19th, players have become accustomed to receiving major updates every Saturday. However, the development team recently announced they’ll be slowing down and taking more time with the next update for their fans, known as Greymanes.

Here’s what it wrote on X (or Twitter) earlier today:

We’re working on our next update, which will include features we discussed last week, like customizable controls for keyboard/mouse and controllers, adjustable difficulty levels, and better inventory organization with category tabs. We’re taking the time to thoroughly test and refine everything before releasing it, and we anticipate it will be available sometime next week. Please be aware that this update will be larger than usual due to improvements in distant scenery. We’re excited for you to try it out and appreciate your patience and continued support!

The recent Dev Update hinted at some major new features that could really change how the game is played, like different difficulty levels and the option to fight bosses again after you’ve beaten them.

The developers are also focusing on making distant objects look better, which is why this update is bigger than usual. They’re continuing to refine the game’s controls based on player feedback as well.

We recently asked players whether they were happy with the ongoing support for Pearl Abyss’ game, or if they thought it was released before it was fully ready.

Opinions varied: 31% of respondents felt the studio did an exceptional job, but 23% thought the project wasn’t fully completed.

It looks like a significant update is coming next week, and it’s good that the developers are taking a moment to review everything and make sure it’s as polished as possible.

People who haven’t purchased Crimson Desert yet might actually be the lucky ones, as the game seems poised for a major overhaul and could be almost unrecognizable by year’s end.
