The Avengers are a hugely popular superhero team, and their appeal goes beyond just the successful Marvel movies. The team itself is fantastic, bringing together heroes from all over the Marvel Universe with a constantly changing roster and a few familiar faces. It’s almost true that everyone has been an Avenger at some point! And like any great hero team, the Avengers have faced truly memorable villains – a wide range of bad guys who deserve recognition, even if some are more famous than others.
I’ve been thinking about some Avengers villains lately, and honestly, I think a few of them deserve their own big spotlight again. They’ve had little appearances here and there, but these baddies are truly capable of giving the Avengers a real run for their money – we need to be reminded just how powerful they are! So, let’s dive in and talk about some villains who are seriously overdue for a major story.
5) Count Nefaria

Count Nefaria, the father of Madame Masque and head of the Maggia crime organization, is a dangerous enemy. He’s a classic gangster with a powerful ability – he possesses the same ionic powers as Wonder Man. Nefaria constantly seeks more power and aims to create a large number of ionic beings so he can steal their energy. This combination of immense power and control over New York’s criminal underworld makes him a unique and formidable opponent for the Avengers. He can directly challenge them with his abilities while simultaneously using his criminal network to create chaos and force the team to deal with countless crimes across the city. He’s a compelling villain whose potential deserves further exploration.
4) Baron Zemo

Let’s switch gears to Baron Zemo, who used to be Count Nefaria’s boss. Zemo is one of the Avengers’ oldest and most manipulative enemies, often working behind the scenes to cause trouble with various villainous organizations. While he’s historically been a major threat and really challenged the Avengers, he hasn’t been a central figure in recent stories. It would be fitting for him to return as a powerful force, causing chaos after a period of inactivity – it’s exactly the kind of thing he’d do.
3) Korvac

Korvac is a unique villain, operating on a cosmic scale unlike most. Originating from a future reality, he constantly seeks to control the universe, believing he can rule it for the greater good, or simply to become more powerful. He’s incredibly strong – entire superhero teams can’t defeat him – but what sets him apart from other powerful cosmic beings is his fundamental humanity and inner flaws. This makes him a compelling character, and his story offers the potential for a large, dramatic, and emotionally resonant adventure.
2) Elements of Doom

The Elements of Doom are a relatively unknown group, appearing in fewer than ten comics. However, I believe they have a lot of potential. They’re essentially living beings made from the elements of the periodic table, created by alien invaders. With a member representing each element, they can combine their abilities in countless ways, allowing them to create almost anything. This concept is perfect for a truly imaginative story – imagine a full-scale invasion where the entire group fights the Avengers in a chemical battle! They just need the right narrative to become major players.
1) Ultron

Ultron remains a well-known villain for the Avengers, but he isn’t considered as dangerous as he once was. He used to be a formidable opponent, capable of challenging even the entire team, and almost winning. While Ultron is a great villain who has battled many Marvel heroes, he deserves to be portrayed as a truly universal threat. A new story showcasing his full power would remind everyone how terrifying he can be.
