Noah Wyle is gloving up for season three of The Pitt.
After the second season—which followed a busy 15-hour shift at a Pittsburgh hospital on the Fourth of July, ten months after the difficult events of season one—the show’s lead actor and producer announced the timeframe for the next season.
Noah pointed out that allowing for some seasonal variation can lead to a wider range of interesting situations or examples.
He explained in a recent interview with People that winter brings an increase in problems like car accidents, icy roads, and heating system failures. He also noted a change in fashion and overall atmosphere during the colder months.
That said, the 54-year-old noted “the plan” for season three is to focus on “late fall.”
As for how the series’ writing team goes about choosing a date for their seasons?
“Just close our eyes,” Noah quipped, “flip a calendar and throw a dart.”
Details about season three are still coming, but there will be a significant cast change: Supriya Ganesh will not be returning as Dr. Samira Mohan.
Okay, so I was reading an interview with Noah, you know, Dr. Robby from the show, and he basically explained what always happens. It’s just… inevitable! Every season, people are going to leave, because realistically, ERs are crazy and doctors come and go. But the writers are so clever! They’re always working on ways to bring in new faces, or give more screen time to the people who are already there, so it doesn’t feel like everything’s falling apart. It’s just… they need to keep things interesting, and they do. It’s brilliant, honestly. I’m just obsessed with how they handle everything!

Despite this, the former ER cast member stressed how much Supriya—who has played a resident on The Pitt since it began in 2025—will be missed.
Supriya has been a vital member of the show from the start. Dr. Mohan is a fan favorite, and I’ve really enjoyed working with Supriya and portraying scenes with her. We’re sad to see her go and wish her the best in whatever she does next.
Until The Pitt season three gets a premiere date, keep reading for more upcoming TV releases…
