As a huge Xbox fan, I’ve been following all the leaks about their future games, and it seems like they’re really trying to avoid releasing anything at the same time as Grand Theft Auto 6. Apparently, that might mean we’ll see games like Halo: Campaign Evolved hitting shelves as early as July – just a month after the big Xbox Games Showcase! It’s a smart move, honestly, to give GTA 6 the space it deserves.
While neither Halo Studios nor Microsoft has officially confirmed it, the game has been rated by South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee. It also appears with an “M” for Mature rating from the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB), which shares rating information. Interestingly, the original Halo: Combat Evolved also received a Mature rating.
The game Halo: Campaign Evolved is expected to release on July 28th, with players who pre-order potentially gaining access as early as July 23rd. Sources say the game is finished and includes a good variety of character customization options. Plus, the three previously announced prequel missions – centered around Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson – are rumored to feature the ODSTs, Brutes, and a new enemy faction within the Covenant.
While Halo Studios hasn’t confirmed it, reports suggest that Abstraction and Virtuos are also working on the game. We might hear an official announcement at the Xbox Games Showcase and a dedicated presentation for Gears of War: E-Day on June 7th, which is expected to last about 30 minutes.
