Michelle Pfeiffer’s New 96% RT Apple TV Series Dominates Streaming In The U.S.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles, but the reviews say otherwise.

Elle Fanning and Michelle Pfeiffer star in Apple TV+’s new series, which realistically portrays the challenges faced by single mothers dealing with financial hardship. The show, also featuring Nicole Kidman and Nick Offerman, blends comedy and drama to create a captivating and relatable story for viewers.

Since its release, Margo’s Got Money Troubles has become a huge hit on Apple TV, currently ranking as the platform’s second most-watched series in the U.S. The show has also received critical acclaim, earning a near-perfect 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

After checking out what 20 critics are saying, it’s clear this show is a hit. Everyone’s really impressed with the acting, the story itself, and of course, David E. Kelley – the guy behind hits like Big Little Lies and The Lincoln Lawyer. They’re calling it fresh, genuine, and surprisingly upbeat. But the standout? Elle Fanning. Critics are raving about her performance, saying she absolutely nails the role of Margo, bringing a wonderfully maternal side to the character with real brilliance.

Margo, the daughter of a former Hooters waitress and a professional wrestler, recently left college to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. Now, as a new mother struggling with bills and limited income, she’s determined to figure out a path for the future.

I’m really excited about Apple TV’s new series – it’s based on a fantastic novel by Rufi Thorpe. What’s even cooler is that showrunner Kelley brought his wife, Pfeiffer, on board, and this is the first time they’ve collaborated professionally in over three decades! Kelley told USA Today that he immediately pictured Pfeiffer as the character Shyanne after reading the book, and thankfully, she felt the same way about the role. It’s just a really lovely bit of casting and a sweet story behind how it happened.

Pfeiffer shared her excitement about playing Shyanne, Margo’s mother, saying she immediately connected with the role. She explained it was the first time she’d played a character so closely based on people she knew from her own life. Pfeiffer enjoys portraying complicated characters, and described Shyanne as someone who is confident and expressive, but also has hidden vulnerabilities and imperfections – qualities she particularly loves to explore in her roles.

It’s unusual for Elle Fanning to earn a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. Her most acclaimed series, The Great (2020-2023), starring alongside Nicholas Hoult, received a very high 96% rating. While she’s been in many well-received films, including the Oscar-nominated Sentimental Value, she hasn’t yet appeared in a movie with a 100% rating; Sentimental Value came closest with 95%.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles will be available to stream on Apple TV on April 15.
