Nicole Kidman is kind of iconic when it comes to picking herself up and dusting herself off.

In August 2001, while on The Late Show, the 5-foot-11 actress jokingly told David Letterman she could finally wear heels again. She made the comment when he asked how she was doing following her divorce from Tom Cruise, who was about four inches shorter than her.

Although her divorce from Keith Urban last fall didn’t lead to any public outbursts or pointed comments (though it did remind people of a memorable past moment), she’s dealt with loss before and has a knack for emerging with a positive outlook.

Nicole Kidman recently told Variety she was doing well and prioritizing what matters most. She expressed gratitude for her family and their well-being, and said she’s focused on continuing to move forward with them.

She wants to maintain her family life and continue living in Nashville, where she and her husband, Keith Urban, are raising their daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15. Plus, her close friend Reese Witherspoon lives nearby.

Nicole Kidman, who shares 33-year-old daughter Isabella and 31-year-old son Connor with Tom Cruise, explained that she feels deeply connected to her life and community. ‘I’ve been part of this city for 20 years, and it truly feels like home,’ she said.

Sunday, a model who’s worked with brands like Miu Miu and Dior for the past two years, says her high school experience in Nashville helped her stay down-to-earth.

It’s incredible to have these experiences and meet so many new people,” the recent prom attendee told Elle Australia in its March issue. “But it’s easy for teenagers to get caught up in it all quickly.

She also mentioned that her mother is an experienced traveler and has taught her how to travel well, making it really enjoyable to explore new places.

Nicole Kidman has had a busy year traveling the globe! She’s visited Chile and Antarctica for leisure, attended Paris Fashion Week for Chanel, and promoted her new show, Scarpetta, in New York. She also presented at the Oscars in Hollywood and, along with Sandra Bullock, gave fans a first look at Practical Magic 2 at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

The Australian actress explained to Variety that she kept a low profile last year because of personal matters. However, she’s now looking forward to 2026 and feels ready to move forward with her career.

I don’t like being held back,” the 58-year-old explained. “Acting lets me experience all sorts of things, and I approach my own life the same way. I’m focusing on having adventures in the coming years. I’m at a point where I want to pursue personal dreams and passions outside of my career.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always inspired by how people balance exciting adventures with meaningful personal pursuits. She explained during an April 11th presentation at the University of San Francisco—part of their Silk Speaker Series—that this was an area she was growing in and actively learning about.

A week after sharing the news, she observed that people were either puzzled or curious about it. She also described the training process as very interesting up to that point.

Nicole Kidman said she discovered she has the right kind of personality to handle the challenges of her work. Speaking to an audience in Philadelphia on April 18th, she explained, ‘It takes a specific type of person to do it, but I realized I am that person.’

However, that doesn’t mean she’ll be changing careers anytime soon.

She briefly thought about leaving acting after moving to Nashville, but her mother convinced her not to quit entirely. She quickly discovered that performing was just part of who she was, and around that same time, she began to explore producing as well.

The actress, a veteran of 40 years in film and television, described herself as someone who thrives on being busy and working. She genuinely enjoys her craft and also likes creating opportunities for others in the industry.
