Thanks to the world of comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Deadpool has become incredibly popular, even despite varying power levels across different universes. Ryan Reynolds’ portrayal has been a massive success, completely overshadowing the widely disliked version of the character that appeared in the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Ryan Reynolds and Marvel Studios built a hugely successful film series with Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and the blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine. These films have earned over $3 billion in theaters, plus significant revenue from rentals and merchandise.
This shows how much a fresh appearance can impact Deadpool, so Marvel Comics is joining in on the fun – they don’t want Marvel Studios to have all of it! As a result, Marvel Comics is introducing a new version of Wade Wilson who’s incredibly powerful thanks to the Knullbuster armor.
That’s right – Deadpool now has the tools to fight Knull, the incredibly powerful ancient god who created the symbiotes, as seen in Wade Wilson: Deadpool #6. The issue also features some pretty disturbing variant covers of Deadpool, along with other characters armed to battle Venom’s father.
Marvel’s Deadpool Can Go Toe-to-Toe With Knull … ?
Marvel Studios has only shown Knull once, in the post-credit scene of Venom: The Last Dance. However, it was a very brief and underwhelming appearance, revealing nothing about his abilities. With Tom Hardy no longer playing Eddie Brock/Venom, and no plans to bring Knull back in live-action, it seems unlikely we’ll see more of him anytime soon.
It’s frustratingly underwhelming because Knull is incredibly powerful – one of the oldest and strongest beings in comic book history, even predating the universe! Yet, all we saw him do was command the Xenophages. Marvel understands the challenge; defeating Knull needs a hero who is either immortal, incredibly durable, or armed with god-like armor.
Deadpool is the perfect choice for the job, and he’ll bring his signature humor to what’s sure to be an intense and funny fight.
Will Marvel Bring Back Deadpool For a Fourth Film?
Fans have a lot to look forward to in the next issue of Deadpool, #6, which arrives in comic book stores on July 1st.
This will definitely excite any Deadpool fan while they wait to see if Ryan Reynolds returns as the character in Avengers: Doomsday this December, and if the rumored team-up movie happens. Currently, there are no plans for a fourth Deadpool film, or at least none where Wade Wilson is the main focus.
Reynolds shared exciting news, revealing he’s started working on a new movie featuring Deadpool. However, he doesn’t see Deadpool as the main character anymore. He told Today that he envisions Deadpool as a supporting character, someone who shines as part of an ensemble cast.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the next Deadpool movie, and in the meantime, the comic book version of the character is facing a massive threat – and looking great while doing it in his powerful Knullbuster armor.
