Bachelorette’s Hannah Brown Undergoes Surgery for Rare Uterus Defect

Hannah Brown is on the mend.

The former contestant on The Bachelorette shared that she’s recovering from surgery. Doctors discovered a rare uterine condition that could make it difficult for her to have children in the future.

Hannah shared on Instagram that doctors initially suspected she had a double uterus. However, they later determined she has a bicorporeal septate uterus, meaning her uterus is divided into two sections, which can sometimes cause difficulty getting pregnant.

Although the condition affects roughly 1.5% of women, according to the Cleveland Clinic, the 31-year-old shared positive news: “Fortunately, it’s treatable with surgery.”

Hannah has always hoped to have children with her husband, Adam Woolard, but with her busy life, family planning hasn’t been a priority for her yet.

She confessed she wasn’t sure she was fully prepared for motherhood, but felt it was the right time to start trying, and this felt like the first move in that direction.

Although she expressed thanks to Adam and her parents for helping her at home, the author of Mistakes We Never Made especially wanted to thank her fans and followers.

I feel incredibly lucky to have this information now,” she added. “Many women experience heartbreak and confusion before understanding what’s happening, and I don’t take that for granted. I’m grateful to everyone who has been open about their own experiences and encouraged me to share mine.

Hannah recently shared that she was surprised to learn she had a double uterus. This diagnosis led her and her fiancé to start discussing their plans for having a family.

She shared in a May 2025 interview on the Heal Squad podcast with Maria Menounos that she wants to have a child someday. While she’s excited about the idea of becoming a mother and doesn’t want to miss out on that part of life, she feels she wasn’t quite prepared until now.

Hannah went on to say that they’d address things when the time was right. However, knowing surgery was an option to consider down the line, and being prepared for it, was a big relief.

Hannah isn’t the only celebrity who’s talked about their health struggles. Here’s what other stars have revealed about their experiences.

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids – non-cancerous growths in or around the womb – in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her acting.

She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen this pattern repeated so many times. From a young age, we’re often taught to just accept period pain as a normal part of being a woman. It’s like we’re conditioned to suffer in silence, thinking it’s just something we have to deal with on our own. But the truth is, so many of us struggle with this, and we absolutely shouldn’t be going through it alone.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happens when there’s a gap in the abdominal or groin muscles, and in her case, it was caused by wearing very tight pants.

“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine shared on the 2025 episode of the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast. “I’ve been experiencing spasms all over my body, and doctors recently told me I was in a life-threatening situation—I was told I could die within the last year.”

He described a lingering tingling sensation in his knees and toes during a March 2025 episode of his podcast, Trading Secrets. He explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a squat or stand on one leg without falling. He compared the feeling to having a stroke.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

After noticing she looked “puffier” and receiving critical comments online, doctors began commenting on interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome, a condition often caused by high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Amy to realize she had been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She later learned she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, which she called “the greatest news imaginable.” Amy shared this relief in a February 2024 newsletter, thankful to be healthy.

As a huge hockey fan and especially a follower of the Fitzgerald family, I was so relieved to hear that Tom Fitzgerald’s son recovered from a scary on-ice injury. Tom, the GM of the New Jersey Devils, later shared with ESPN how incredibly grateful they were that it wasn’t worse. In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin. She suddenly started having stroke-like symptoms, unable to speak and experiencing drooping on the right side of her face. Although these symptoms eventually subsided, she went to the hospital for testing. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to reach her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also went through a difficult time. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained that the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also mentioned that it became increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well and feeling much better, adding that they were grateful he was going to be okay. It had been a frightening and unexpected situation, but he was expected to make a full recovery.

As someone who advocates for prioritizing well-being, I was deeply moved by Jamie Foxx’s openness about his health journey. He recently shared what happened back in April 2023, and it was quite a scare. He described having a severe headache one day while in Atlanta, and before he could even take an aspirin, he lost consciousness. He actually doesn’t remember the next twenty days! Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but thankfully, his sister Deidra stepped in, sensing something wasn’t right. She took him to the hospital where they discovered he’d experienced a brain bleed that led to a stroke. After surgery, he woke up on May 4th in a wheelchair, unable to walk, and began a long road of rehabilitation in Chicago. He’s incredibly grateful for all the prayers and support he received, saying he truly needed every single one. It’s a powerful reminder to listen to your body and cherish your health.

The reality TV star shared that she temporarily stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC show.

She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, everything went dark, but she then saw light, which led her to realize she had died that day.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially begins to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the show, she experienced a sudden and severe headache while at the gym. She described collapsing and being violently ill, realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan quickly revealed a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. She had suffered an aneurysm, a rupture in an artery. Emergency surgery was performed to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, leaving her unable to speak clearly.

Though the aphasia eventually passed and she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had doubled in size, requiring a second surgery. This operation was unsuccessful, leading to a major bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive procedure, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia Clarke now says she has made a full recovery and is doing well.

Fortunately, Cori is now recovering well. She says she’s doing great and is regaining her motor skills, and is otherwise feeling fine.

Shailene Woodley struggled with serious health issues throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, debilitating fatigue, and constant stomach pain. Doctors offered various diagnoses, leaving her feeling confused and frustrated.

Determined to find answers, Woodley combined traditional medical care with holistic approaches, drawing on her background in herbalism and working with both doctors and independent healers. This search for well-being spanned a decade.

The physical discomfort led to deeper issues, including fear of food and struggles with body image, identity, and feeling comfortable in her own body. However, after years of focusing on both her physical and mental health, Shailene is now feeling much better. She’s happy to report that her health issues have resolved and she is currently very healthy.
