Initial indications suggest the upcoming sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, starring Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep, and Stanley Tucci, is likely to be both popular with critics and a box office success.
Film reviews were released yesterday afternoon, and as of today, the movie has a 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 118 reviews, suggesting it’s been very well-received by critics.

Okay, so I checked Metacritic, and the movie’s sitting at a 61 out of 46 reviews. It’s not a blockbuster score, but it definitely leans towards people liking it overall – it’s generally positive, you know?
Surprisingly, the new film currently has a slightly better score on Rotten Tomatoes than the original, which received a 75% rating based on 194 reviews. However, its score on Metacritic is one point lower.
Most people agree the new movie is just as good as the first, which will please fans eager to see Andy, Miranda, and the rest of the characters again.
In our review, we rated the movie 4 stars. Our critic, James Mottram, felt it was an improvement over the first one, calling it “bigger and bolder,” and overall a very enjoyable experience – like catching up with cherished friends, despite a few small issues.
As a film buff, I was really pleased to see this movie getting such great reviews! It earned a fantastic 4 stars from publications like The Telegraph, The Independent, The Times, and Little White Lies. Even The Guardian and Empire gave it a solid 3 stars, and it’s been getting positive buzz in American industry publications like Variety and The Hollywood Reporter too – definitely one to check out!
Besides the four actors returning from the first film, Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, and Simone Ashley, known for her role in Bridgerton, are joining the cast for the sequel.
The story follows Andy Sachs as she comes back to work at Runway magazine, while Miranda Priestly adapts to changes in the media world and tries to keep Runway relevant.
They get back in touch with Emily, a former assistant who now leads a successful luxury brand. Her company’s financial resources could be the key to saving Runway.
The sequel to The Devil Wears Prada arrives in UK cinemas on May 1st, and the movie’s soundtrack will be available the same day. You can hear the song “Runway” now on your favorite music streaming service.
