Now Even Refurbished PS5 Consoles Cost a Fortune

Sony has raised the price of refurbished PlayStation 5 consoles sold directly through its website, making it harder to find a reasonably priced console.

Earlier this month, the price of the standard PlayStation 5 increased from $550 to $650. The digital-only version of the PS5 also became more expensive, rising from $500 to $600.

Until recently, you could save a lot of money by buying a refurbished console. These consoles come with a one-year warranty and are certified by Sony, though they might have minor cosmetic imperfections.

Despite all this, as spotted on ResetEra, prices have jumped by $100 today.

Here’s how much it’ll cost you to get a refurbished console now:

  • PS5: $449.99 > $549.99
  • PS5 Digital Edition: $399.99 > $499.99

A used console with discs costs around £480 in the UK, but the digital-only version isn’t currently sold there.

You can find the original launch model for as low as $399.99, making it the most affordable choice unless you’re looking at used devices or special sales.

The reality, however, is that the PS5 is extremely expensive now.

Sony says global economic issues like tariffs and inflation are to blame, but ultimately the PS5 costs more now than ever before, at a time when many people are already facing higher prices for everyday things like gas and groceries.

We’re hoping the manufacturer still has a Days of Play sale planned for this summer, as the PS5 is really in need of one.
