Doctor Doom is one of Marvel’s most famous villains, appearing in countless stories and fighting nearly every superhero. Recently, he gained immense power by becoming the Sorcerer Supreme and then declared himself ruler of the world in an event called “One World Under Doom.” The heroes of Marvel tried to stop him, but failed. Ultimately, Doom sacrificed his power – and seemingly his life – to save Valeria, a young woman he cared for deeply. While his ultimate fate remains a mystery, fans won’t have to wait long to see him return.
The comic Captain America (2025) focuses on Steve Rogers’s difficult mission in Latveria, a country torn apart by groups fighting for control and access to Doctor Doom’s incredibly dangerous weapons. The central plot revolves around finding Doom’s most powerful weapon, which, as revealed in issue #10, is a young version of Doom himself. This surprising discovery suggests a few potential outcomes, but it ultimately proves that Doctor Doom is a master planner who anticipates every possibility.
A New Doom for a New Dawn

When considering this younger version of Doctor Doom, two main possibilities emerge. While he frequently uses Doom Bots for assistance and disguise, all of those robots were destroyed in the Will of Doom story. Furthermore, Doom would never entrust the safety of his country to a mere machine. Therefore, this child Doom is likely either a clone or a de-aged version of the original. The latter is quite plausible, especially considering the unknown details of Doom’s agreement with the Living Tribunal. He might have been reverted to a more innocent form as a trade for saving Valeria – after all, Doom values nothing more than himself.
I believe it’s much more likely that this young man is a clone. The plan seems to have been in motion long before Doom’s defeat, as rumors of this weapon existed beforehand. The fact that he was raised in Doom’s childhood home, on a street named after his mother, is also telling. His reference to Captain America suggests he’s been deliberately educated, either by Doom himself or someone working for him. This seems like a contingency plan in case Doom was ever removed from power – something he’s known for anticipating.
The key takeaway is that Doctor Doom meticulously planned for every eventuality. Given his extreme ego and lack of trust in others, he would never rely on anyone else to lead, even if he were somehow reduced to a child. This means he either prepared a backup plan for that scenario, or – more likely – he secretly raised a clone of himself to take over if necessary, believing his nation would collapse without his leadership. This combination of brilliant foresight and overwhelming self-confidence is perfectly in character for Doom. It’s a truly insane, self-centered plan, and only Victor Von Doom could have conceived of and executed it.
