The anime series My Hero Academia isn’t over yet! Although the main story concluded with its eighth season last year, a new episode airing this weekend revealed that the series will continue with a special finale. This new story takes place eight years after the events of the war against the villains, and even more episodes are planned for the future.
I’m so excited! It looks like My Hero Academia isn’t quite finished yet! They’ve announced a brand new anime short, and it’s going to adapt one last little story from Kohei Horikoshi’s original manga. It’s called “I am a hero too,” and it’s coming to Japan this summer! Apparently, it’s based on an extra chapter that was included in the My Hero Academia Ultra Age fan book. They even released a logo, and I can’t wait to see it animated!
My Hero Academia Anime Announces New Short After Finale

While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, the new My Hero Academia anime short, “I am a hero too,” will premiere in Japan this summer. It’s based on a five-page chapter that follows the events of chapter 431 (seen in the anime finale, “More”), originally published in the My Hero Academia Ultra Age fan book in 2024. This short represents the final content created for the manga by Kohei Horikoshi, serving as a conclusive ending to the story.
Chapter 431 of My Hero Academia felt like a proper epilogue, showing us what happened to Deku and his friends after the main story ended. While it added a little more to their story – including a look at an older Eri and Deku’s life as a pro hero – it wasn’t as substantial as the original finale. However, this extra content should please fans, and it’s likely to be adapted into a satisfying anime segment.
What’s Next for My Hero Academia?
Fans were curious if the last few pages of the story would ever be animated, after it was confirmed the recent arc would be a standard-length episode of My Hero Academia. This new short film now gives viewers outside of Japan the chance to see the future Horikoshi envisioned for the heroes, which is especially exciting as the anime celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Fans have really loved the glimpse into the future shown at the end of My Hero Academia, and hopefully this new short isn’t the last we see of that timeline. With so much potential still available, we might even get a completely new story or another special project after the main series concludes. There’s clearly a lot more story to tell.
