Black Clover Creator Breaks Silence on Ending With Final Goodbye

After eleven years, the popular manga series Black Clover has concluded, and its creator has shared a farewell message with fans. The series moved to a quarterly release schedule with Shueisha’s Jump GIGA magazine in 2023 and has been wrapping up its final story arc ever since. Following the conclusion of the war against Lucius Zogratis and his Paladins earlier this year, the story naturally reached its end with the release of three final chapters this week.

After eleven years and 392 chapters, Black Clover has finished its run in Weekly Shonen Jump and Jump GIGA magazines. To celebrate the end of the series, creator Yuki Tabata included some special gifts and a heartfelt goodbye message, thanking fans for their support throughout the years. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’m truly grateful to all the readers who stayed with it until the end.”

Black Clover Creator Says Goodbye After 11 Years

In a final message, Black Clover creator Yuki Tabata expressed deep gratitude to readers who followed the series until its conclusion. He credited their support for allowing him to continue creating and shared his desire to keep delivering enjoyable content. Though the main series has finished, the Black Clover universe isn’t over. Tabata hints at this, as plans are underway to bring new episodes of the anime to viewers after a four-year hiatus.

After a four-year break following its 170+ episode run, the anime Black Clover is returning. The first season ended with a major cliffhanger, setting up Asta and the Magic Knights to train for a battle against the Spade Kingdom and the Dark Triad. Now that the manga is finished, there’s enough source material for a new set of episodes – something the anime struggled with during its initial run.

Black Clover Anime to Return in 2026

A second season of Black Clover is coming this year, though we don’t have a specific release date yet. It’s likely to premiere in the fall, as the anime schedule for summer 2024 is already being planned. There’s plenty more Black Clover to come, as the Spade Kingdom Raid and Ultimate Wizard King story arcs haven’t been adapted into anime yet.

There’s a chance Tabata might decide to continue the Black Clover manga later on. We’ve seen other Shonen Jump authors do similar things – like Kohei Horikoshi with My Hero Academia, who added an epilogue, or Gege Akutami with Jujutsu Kaisen, who created a full sequel. While the current story of Black Clover seems finished, it’s possible Tabata could return to it if they choose to.
