Following the positive response to its first season, the show has been renewed for a second! News of the return of Maul – Shadow Lord came even before the season officially began, and now fans are excited to see what the future holds for the series.
“I think 19 seasons and a movie would probably cover it.”
Even though Witwer was joking, he did share some thoughts on the series’ potential future, specifically whether it might explore storylines from Solo: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars Rebels. He explained, “It’s possible we could go there, but the direction the show takes will develop naturally. We’re always discussing these possibilities.”
Maul – Shadow Lord Could Bridge a Huge Gap in the Star Wars Canon
Maul is a rare Star Wars character whose story unfolds across multiple time periods and different shows. He became well-known after The Clone Wars and then had a significant part in Star Wars: Rebels, even surprising viewers with his return. Although Rebels concluded Maul’s storyline, his appearance in Solo left some mysteries unresolved, which continues to excite fans and fuel their desire to see more of him.
Despite Witwer playfully suggesting the show could last 19 seasons and even become a movie, most fans would probably be happy to see Maul – Shadow Lord continue if it stays as good as the first season. The series received a perfect score, with reviewers highlighting its potential for many more stories.
The Season 1 finale of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord is now streaming on Disney+.
