After 14 years, a popular manga series published in Shonen Jump is nearing its conclusion, and the creator has recently discussed the upcoming ending. This follows a trend at publisher Shueisha, where several long-running series from the 2010s – including popular titles like Black Clover, My Hero Academia, and Jujutsu Kaisen – have recently finished, and now another is set to join them.
The manga series Seraph of the End, created by Takaya Kagami, Yamato Yamamoto, and Daisuke Furuya, is nearing its conclusion. After 14 years of publication in Shueisha’s Jump SQ magazine, the authors are currently working on the final volume of chapters. Writer Takaya Kagami announced the news in Volume 36, recently released in Japan, and shared a message with fans stating, “Whether I cry or laugh, the next volume is the last.” (The announcement was first noted by @animeupdates on X.)
Seraph of the End Creator Breaks Silence on Upcoming Ending

Wow, things are really coming to a head with Seraph of the End! As the writer, Takaya Kagami, was working on volume 36, he said he was completely blown away by how things were unfolding. And get this – volume 37 is planned to be the very last one! He was as surprised as we are, apparently! The team is now gearing up for the finale – which should be just three or four chapters away – and they’re promising to really put their hearts into it, making sure every detail is just right. It’s going to be an amazing finish, and they want to make sure it lives up to everything we’ve all been hoping for!
Kagami shared that finishing this long series is proving incredibly challenging, and she’s deeply invested in giving each character a satisfying conclusion. She’s working tirelessly, even to the point of exhaustion, but is determined to bring the story to a close. The next volume will be the last, so fans should prepare themselves for the final chapter – whether it brings tears or smiles!
Is Seraph of the End’s Anime Ever Coming Back?

Since 2012, the manga Seraph of the End has been consistently updated with new chapters in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. However, other parts of the franchise haven’t seen much activity. An anime adaptation was produced by WIT Studio, consisting of a full 24-episode first season. Because the anime quickly caught up to the manga’s storyline, there hasn’t been a strong push for a second season.
Even after the series concludes in a few months, there’s still a lot of story content that could be used for a new anime season, meaning Seraph of the End could potentially return. It’s not unusual for anime franchises to have long gaps between seasons, so a comeback isn’t far-fetched. Unfortunately, the first season isn’t easily available for streaming in North America, which makes a revival more challenging.
