The journey leading up to the release of Lost Soul Aside, a Chinese game resembling Devil May Cry in the genre of character action, has been a lengthy one.
However, following a monumental period of development that involved transitioning from PS4 to PS5, the game is nearly here! The official launch is set for August 29th.
And here’s a bunch of new gameplay for you to sink your teeth into:
Prior to ChinaJoy 2025, which is next week, this video has been released, offering a sneak peek at a playable game on the event’s exhibition floor. The footage showcases breathtaking landscapes, along with some cinematics and an abundance of battle sequences.

It seems clear that the true test lies in the playtesting, but based on what we see, the main character appears to have a variety of options at their disposal, while the opponents seem diverse enough to provide a range of challenges.
One potential rephrase for your sentence could be: “The main issue we noticed in the video clips is that the attacks don’t seem to have as strong an impact as one would anticipate in a game like this. Consequently, the gameplay might feel unclear or disappointing.
We’re quite hopeful for the upcoming launch. To be clear, it’s not that we think this will be a contender for Game of the Year, but if it delivers a strong and reliable character action game, it could fill a gap nicely – particularly since Devil May Cry is currently on hiatus.
