Now this is a look worthy of the Seven Kingdoms.
Gwendoline Christie, a host for the 2026 Met Gala, made a striking entrance at the May 4th event. She arrived at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art wearing a beautiful red dress and a large, feathered headpiece designed by her partner, Giles Deacon.
Embracing the night’s “Fashion Is Art” theme, the former Game of Thrones star accessorized with a unique mask – a replica of her own face, designed by artist Gillian Wearing. (Check out all the red carpet looks here.)
In a recent interview with Vogue, she described the unique accessory as something more than just a mask or a mirror. She explained it’s multi-faceted, questioning if it serves as protection or a form of self-expression.
Gwendoline was among great company at the event, which was hosted by Zoë Kravitz and Anthony Vaccarello of Saint Laurent. Other attendees included stars like Sabrina Carpenter, Teyana Taylor, Doja Cat, Sam Smith, Lena Dunham, and Chase Sui Wonders.
As expected, Anna Wintour, a major figure at Vogue, led this year’s Met Gala, which celebrated the connection between costumes and art. Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams joined her as co-chairs, and Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos sponsored the event, also taking on honorary co-chair roles.
Gwendoline has attended the Met Gala before. She first appeared in 2023, wearing a light pink Fendi dress to honor designer Karl Lagerfeld, who was the theme of that year’s event.
Britt Lower, known for her role in Severance, made a stunning return to the Met Gala in 2024. Her outfit perfectly matched the night’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme, as she wore a Red Riding Hood-inspired cape designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela.

She styled her blonde hair into a big, fluffy look, making her already tall – at 6-foot-3 – appear even taller.
She explained to Vogue in 2023 that her awareness of being short led her to embrace traditionally feminine traits. She said that after being told she wasn’t considered attractive, she intentionally focused on enhancing her appearance in ways considered conventionally appealing, once she had the resources to do so.
However, fashion allowed her expand her horizons as a child.
Gwendoline shared that she’d spend Friday nights experimenting with her mother’s makeup, using it as a way to explore different versions of herself.
She felt it was the simplest and most straightforward way to change and start over.
