Wait, what day is it?
We thought it was May 4th, the date of the 2026 Met Gala, but Heidi Klum arrived dressed to the nines for the “Costume Art” theme, looking like she was celebrating Halloween – which is her favorite holiday!
The model truly interpreted the “Fashion Is Art” theme, appearing almost like a living sculpture in a unique outfit designed by Mike Marino. You can see all the outfits from the Met Gala 2026 on the red carpet.
The designer explained that her pale, vintage-style outfit was inspired by classic sculptures, specifically Giuseppe Sammartino’s “Veiled Christ” from 1753 and Raffaele Monti’s “Veiled Vestal” from 1847. She used materials like latex and spandex to create the look of carved stone, but still allow for comfortable movement.
According to a recent announcement, the dress is a stunning combination of art and clothing. It’s made using classic sewing methods, but features unique textures, innovative techniques, and visual tricks that take it to the next level.
It unexpectedly made the distinction between early May and late October less clear.
Putting aside how unusual it was, this look is classic Heidi Klum. The 52-year-old Project Runway host clearly enjoys opportunities to transform her appearance with prosthetics and dramatic makeup.

Okay, so her Halloween party is LEGENDARY, and this year? Forget about it. She completely transformed herself into Medusa! It wasn’t just a costume, it was a project – five months she spent on it! And it was SO worth it. Honestly, the detail was insane. And Tom, her husband? He was the perfect warrior, like, totally frozen in stone from her gaze. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen, seriously! I’ve been obsessed ever since.
Heidi Klum has been going to the Met Gala since 2003, but this year she’s really embraced the theme more than ever before. Last year, she took a more understated approach to the menswear-inspired “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” although she did follow the “Tailored for You” dress code in a custom Vetements outfit.
It’s actually quite straightforward,” Klum explained to Zuri Hall of TopMob in 2025. “We’re essentially using the same material that suits are made from, but repurposing it.”
She explained that the fabric dates back to 1798, and the company that made it has been supplying textiles to the Pope and the Vatican ever since – using the same materials for hundreds of years.
But artists have been chiseling stones for millennia.
