Blake Lively is starting a new chapter at Met Gala 2026.
Just days after resolving a year-long legal dispute with her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni, the actress attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on May 4th. (See all the celebrity arrivals here.)
Blake Lively wore a vibrant Versace halter dress from 2006 that resembled the soft colors of the sky seen in Venetian Rococo art and Baroque churches, fitting the evening’s theme of ‘Fashion Is Art’.
She wore a beautiful ball gown in shades of pale purple and yellow, decorated with detailed beading. To match the event’s “Costume Art” theme, she accessorized with dazzling Lorraine Schwartz chandelier earrings featuring sapphires and yellow diamonds, along with other statement jewelry.
This event signaled a turning point for Lively, as her upcoming trial against Baldoni – concerning claims of retaliation and a broken contract – was set to start later this month.
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s representatives released a statement on May 4th to NBC News saying they are proud of the film It Ends With Us. They shared that a key goal for everyone involved was to raise awareness and support survivors of domestic violence and all forms of trauma.
The lawyers stated they understood the process was difficult and that Ms. Lively’s concerns were valid and should have been addressed.
We are dedicated to maintaining workplaces that are honest and positive. We hope this situation is resolved and everyone involved can move forward peacefully and with mutual respect.
Blake first sued Baldoni in 2024, claiming he fostered a negative work environment on the set of It Ends With Us and damaged her reputation after she voiced her concerns. Baldoni refuted these claims, but his lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds—which accused them of working with the media to harm his reputation—was thrown out in early June. The judge ruled that Baldoni didn’t provide enough evidence to prove Lively and Reynolds had defamed him.
In April, a judge rejected the majority of claims made by Lively in her lawsuit against the former star of Jane the Virgin, including her accusations of sexual harassment.
Blake Lively explained in an Instagram post on April 3rd that she really didn’t want to file a lawsuit, but felt she had no choice due to the ongoing and widespread retaliation she experienced after asking for a safer and more respectful work environment for herself and her colleagues.
She expressed hope that the Court’s ruling would encourage others to come forward, even when it’s incredibly difficult and upsetting.
