Damson Idris‘ look for Met Gala 2026 got the ultimate stamp of approval.
Before attending the glamorous Met Gala at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4th, the actor—known for F1—shared a preview of his Prada outfit and DIDRIS jewelry with his mother, Philippa Idris. You can find photos of all the celebrities at the Met Gala 2026 here.
Damson explained that he showed his mother pieces from his DIDRIS line – a collection inspired by her – while speaking with TopMob during their By Design segment of the Live From TopMob Stream: Met Gala. He said she loved everything he showed her.
He explained that his mother had always dreamed of trading gold, something she did in her twenties. He’s now continuing that work, feeling it’s the best way to honor her memory and stay true to his values. As long as he believes he’s making her proud, he feels confident he’s doing the right thing.
As for his Prada ensemble? Damson shared the story behind their dynamic collaboration.
As a stylist, I really leaned into the looks we created for award season this year. A huge trend was all about sophisticated trench coats – we kept revisiting that classic silhouette in so many different ways!
He explained that he experimented with various fabrics and colors for his outfit, which fit the gala’s “Fashion Is Art” and “Costume Art” themes. He wanted to hint at his upcoming film, Children of Blood and Bone, which features a lot of red. He described the look as a successful blend of film, fashion, and his DIDRIS brand, calling the entire process a wonderful collaboration.
