Coronation Street airs big twist as resident questioned in Theo Silverton murder investigation in early ITVX release

It wasn’t long before people started blaming each other on Coronation Street after Theo Silverton, who had been abusive, died.

Friday’s episode of the show revealed that Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) abusive partner was the person who was murdered, a crime viewers briefly saw a hint of back in February.

A chase between him and Todd led to a standoff with Summer Spellman. Todd eventually found refuge with George Shuttleworth and Christina Boyd, but hours later, Theo was found dead in the backyard of the corner shop.

Fans will have to wait until June or July to learn who the killer is, according to Kate Brooks, the series’ producer.

Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) has started investigating who was responsible, and he and Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) plan to interview people to find out the truth about what happened to Theo before he died.

Okay, so last night’s episode threw a whole bunch of names into the mix as potential suspects! We’re talking Todd, Christina, Summer, George, and then, interestingly, Gary Windass – Mikey North, of course – and Danielle Silverton, played by Natalie Anderson. It’s a pretty crowded field now, and I’m honestly excited to see where it goes!

Tonight on the show, Christina spotted blood on George’s sweater and desperately tried to clean it off. Just then, Lisa showed up with shocking news: the police are now investigating Theo’s death as a murder.

Christina overheard the conversation from the hallway and quickly left to visit the funeral home. Meanwhile, George saw her cleaning his desk, realizing she was likely searching for clues that might connect him to the situation.

She rushed to tell him that Lisa was trying to find a murderer and immediately asked where he’d been the night it happened. The timing couldn’t have been worse, because Lisa had just arrived and quickly became wary of him.

After seeing the blood on the sweater, she asked George to go with her to the police station for more questioning.

He explained exactly what he did the night of the death, mentioning he’d spent a significant amount of time walking by himself. Lisa was worried he couldn’t prove where he was, so she decided to hold him for further questioning at the station.

Watching the scene with Christina and Todd, I really felt for them. They were clearly still reeling from a difficult day, and Christina was understandably upset that George hadn’t shared something so simple as going for a walk. It made her wonder what else he might be hiding, and you could just feel her questioning everything. It’s that subtle stuff that always gets to me as a cinema devotee – the unsaid things and the quiet anxieties.

Ultimately, the two concluded that only one person knew the answers – the person responsible.

Did George really kill Theo?

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 or can be streamed from 7am on ITVX.
