Hamster Corporation has released another game in their Arcade Archives series, and this time it’s the classic arcade hit, Arkanoid.
The classic brick-breaking game is coming to PlayStation 5 (as part of Arcade Archives 2) and PlayStation 4 (as Arcade Archives) tomorrow, May 7th, 2026. It’s a carefully recreated version of the original.
Arkanoid first appeared in arcades in 1986. It’s a game like Atari’s Breakout, but it expanded on the original with multiple levels and exciting power-ups.
You move a paddle across the bottom of the screen to bounce a ball upwards, destroying blocks above. Breaking these blocks can release power-ups that help you, such as a bigger paddle or extra balls.
As with other Arcade Archives games, this version includes helpful features like save states, customizable controls, and a rewind function, making it a great way to experience this classic game.
