I’m still really hoping for more Solo Leveling – honestly, I was obsessed! – but it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting any news about a continuation anytime soon. Thankfully, there’s a new anime coming out this summer that’s totally caught my eye. The trailer is awesome and full of action, and it’s also based on a Korean webcomic, just like Solo Leveling! It feels like it might fill that same exciting void while we wait (and hope!) for news about the future of Solo Leveling.
Based on the popular webcomic Tomb Raider King, a new anime series from Korea is coming to Japan! The story takes place in a world filled with mysterious tombs, and follows Ryoga, who seeks revenge on those who betrayed him using his expert knowledge of these ancient sites. You can watch a new trailer featuring Ryoga in action below.
Tomb Raider King Looks to Be 2026’s Solo Leveling Replacement
The anime series Tomb Raider King will premiere in Japan this July as part of the Summer 2026 anime season. Currently, there are no confirmed plans for a release outside of Japan. This project is notable as a Korean animation produced for Kadokawa, with Seung Wook Woo directing and writing the scripts for STUDIO EEK. Hyun-Jung Lee will lead animation and character design, alongside chief animation director Hyung Jun Heo, while Ju Young Kim is composing the music.
The anime Tomb Raider King will debut with the theme song “Showdown” by the K-pop group QWER. The trailer showcases the Japanese voice cast, led by Yoshimasa Hosoya as Ryoga Goriki, alongside Saori Hayami as Irene Holton, Junichi Suwabe as Taisei Ogawara, Miyu Irino as Kotaro Yanagi, and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Noboru Kureha. More announcements regarding the full cast are expected soon.
What Even Is Tomb Raider King?

Though Tomb Raider King shares visual and setting similarities with Solo Leveling, it also has key differences that could make it unique. Created by SANG and first published on Kakao’s digital platforms in 2016, the story follows a protagonist who travels back in time to seek revenge. You can read the original Korean webcomic on Tapas.
Unlike Sung Jinwoo from Solo Leveling, who gets stronger by defeating monsters and leveling up, Ryoga relies on his knowledge of the past to quickly find valuable Tombs and use their treasures to his advantage. Whether he’s after more power or wealth, viewers are sure to be captivated by his adventures.
