If you’re looking for something great to watch on Disney+ this weekend, three shows are really standing out. Disney+ has a huge library of original series, popular franchises, and everything from Hulu, including critically acclaimed shows like The Bear, which just released a special prequel episode, and The Lowdown, a top new show of 2025. These three are the ones you won’t want to miss.
This weekend, just three shows are really standing out on Disney+. They’re currently leading the charts in terms of viewers worldwide. You can choose from a suspenseful follow-up to a highly praised psychological thriller, a thrilling sci-fi adventure from the Marvel universe, or one of the most popular Star Wars series ever created – all available exclusively on Disney+.
The Testaments
The new series The Testaments launched on Hulu and Disney+ on April 8th with its first three episodes, and it quickly became one of the platform’s most popular shows. Starring Chase Infiniti, who recently received a Golden Globe nomination and starred in the award-winning film One Battle After Another, The Testaments continues the story of the world of The Handmaid’s Tale, the acclaimed dystopian series with Elizabeth Moss. The show centers on the lives of two teenage students at a highly competitive boarding school.
Currently, The Testaments is the most popular show on both Hulu and Disney+, both globally and in the U.S. As season one nears its end with just three episodes remaining and a finale scheduled for May 27th, it’s a good time to start watching this highly discussed new series, which has received an impressive 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Daredevil: Born Again
Charlie Cox returned as the beloved Daredevil (Matt Murdock) in Daredevil: Born Again, reprising his role from the original series that aired on Netflix for three excellent seasons. The revival, Daredevil: Born Again, launched in 2025 and has quickly become a hit, with two fantastic seasons completed – the second season just wrapped up with a highly praised finale last week.
Both Daredevil: Born Again and the Daredevil series on Disney+ have received widespread acclaim and are incredibly popular – and rightfully so. Even if you don’t usually watch superhero shows, Daredevil: Born Again stands out as a compelling, dark, and psychological thriller. With a third season on the way, it’s a fantastic show to binge-watch, particularly for fans of Jon Bernthal’s performance as The Punisher, who also appears in the series.
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord
If you’re looking for something to watch on Disney+ this weekend, check out the fantastic new animated series Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord. It’s received incredible reviews, with a 98% score from critics and a 92% audience score. The show picks up after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and follows the notorious villain Maul as he tries to create a new criminal empire beyond the reach of the Empire.
As a huge Star Wars fan, I was so excited to finally binge the whole first season of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord! They dropped the last two episodes on May the 4th, which was perfect timing. Everyone’s been loving it, and honestly, it feels like a sure thing that Disney+ will give us more seasons. It’s a fantastic show – each episode is a quick 22 to 29 minutes – making it the ideal weekend watch on Disney+ if you’re looking for a new Star Wars fix. I think it’s quickly become one of my favorites!
