The X-Men have been a part of Marvel movies for over two decades, first appearing on screen in 2000. While many powerful mutants have been featured, there are still several from the comics who haven’t made it to the big screen yet. The X-Men’s movie history is a bit complicated, and now, with plans for a reboot and integration into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s becoming even more intertwined. Many popular characters from the X-Men comics have already been brought to life in these films.
While some X-Men movie characters have been exceptionally powerful, the comics feature a much wider range of impressive mutants who haven’t appeared in films yet. Over the years, the X-Men have encountered countless incredibly strong mutants, offering a wealth of possibilities for future adaptations. Here are some of Marvel’s most powerful mutants who are still waiting for their big-screen introductions.
7) Exodus

As a huge X-Men fan, I’ve always been fascinated by the characters with incredible potential, and Exodus is definitely one of those. He’s seriously powerful – we’re talking telekinesis, telepathy, teleportation, healing, and even immortality! He’s considered an Omega-level mutant, meaning he’s among the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. It’s honestly baffling to me that, despite all that, he hasn’t made an appearance in any of the X-Men films yet. He’d be an amazing addition!
6) X-Man

Nate Grey, sometimes called X-Man, has a complicated origin story. He’s essentially an alternate-universe version of Cable, and is the biological son of Cyclops and Jean Grey, created through the genetic experiments of Mr. Sinister. Nate Grey is considered one of the most powerful X-Men in the Marvel Universe, possessing a wide range of incredibly strong psychic abilities that make him stand out even among other heroes. Although Cable has been featured in movies, Nate Grey’s story hasn’t been adapted for the big screen yet.
5) Hope Summers

Hope Summers first became known as the first mutant born after M-Day, a catastrophic event where the Scarlet Witch drastically reduced the mutant population. Her power allows her to copy the abilities of people nearby, essentially giving her a limitless range of powers. This makes her incredibly powerful in the Marvel Universe, but surprisingly, she hasn’t appeared in the X-Men films beyond a brief, silent appearance in Deadpool 2.
4) Proteus

Proteus is a remarkably powerful X-Men villain who often goes overlooked. As the mutant son of geneticist Moira MacTaggert, he can alter reality and take control of other people’s bodies. Usually existing as pure psychic energy, Proteus is considered one of Marvel’s most powerful mutants. Despite being a major threat to the X-Men, his story hasn’t yet been featured in a movie.
3) Vulcan

Though often overshadowed by his siblings Cyclops and Havok, Vulcan is an incredibly powerful mutant who hasn’t appeared in a live-action movie yet. As the youngest of the Summers brothers, Vulcan is an ‘Omega-level’ mutant – meaning he possesses immense power – and can psionically control vast amounts of energy. He’s a major X-Men villain who remains unseen on the big screen.
2) Matthew Malloy

Matthew Malloy isn’t a household name in the Marvel Universe, and hasn’t been as prominent as many other X-Men mutants. Despite this, he’s actually one of the most powerful characters in the comics – his abilities are even considered beyond the level of an Omega-level mutant. Malloy can seemingly warp reality without any limitations, meaning his power is boundless. Surprisingly, he’s never appeared in an X-Men film.
1) Legion

Legion is a popular and incredibly powerful X-Men character, but surprisingly hasn’t appeared in a movie yet. While he was the focus of the FX television series Legion, his unique ability to warp reality and time hasn’t been explored in a feature film. What makes Legion so compelling is his complex set of powers combined with his struggles with dissociative identity disorder, making him a character with a lot of potential for a future movie adaptation.
