Who is Mackenzie Shirilla?

Mackenzie Shirilla was born in 2004. She was 17 years old and had recently graduated high school in Strongsville, Ohio, when the crash occurred.

What happened to Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan?

In June 2022, Mackenzie Shirilla, along with her boyfriend Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan, went to a graduation party. Afterwards, they went to a friend’s house where they listened to music and allegedly smoked marijuana, staying until around 5:30 AM.

Shortly after driving away, a security camera showed Shirilla’s car making a slow right turn. A minute later, another camera recorded the car speeding with its headlights on before it crashed into the Plidco building, impacting a brick wall on the passenger side.

When emergency responders reached the crash site, Russo, Flanagan, and Shirilla were all unconscious. Shirilla’s foot was still on the gas pedal. Sadly, Russo and Flanagan were declared dead at the scene.

The investigation found nothing wrong with Shirilla’s car that could have caused the crash. It was also determined that the brake pedal wasn’t used at any point before the collision.

Shirilla was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Was Mackenzie Shirilla charged with murder?

In August 2023, Mackenzie Shirilla was convicted on all 12 counts she faced. These included four counts of murder, four of aggravated assault, two of vehicular homicide, one of drug possession, and one of possessing tools used for criminal activity.

She was handed two concurrent 15 years to life sentences for the deaths of Russo and Flanagan.

Where is Mackenzie Shirilla now?

At the time of reporting, Mackenzie Shirilla is serving time at the Ohio Reformatory for Women.

After Shirilla was sentenced, she and her lawyers tried to appeal the decision, but the appeal was denied. The court ruled against her because the necessary documents were submitted after the deadline.

The Crash is available to watch Netflix now.
