Starfield PS5 Gets Yet Another Crash-Fixing Patch, Over a Month and Two Updates Later

Even after more than a month since its release on PS5, Starfield continues to have problems with crashing.

So far, Bethesda has released two updates designed for PlayStation consoles. While our tests suggest these updates did improve stability and reduce crashes, the game still has some technical issues.

Okay, so they just dropped patch 1.16.242, and honestly, it’s another one focused on fixing crashes. It’s supposed to help on every platform, which is good, but I’m starting to wonder how many more of these crash-fix patches we’re going to need! It’s getting a little frustrating, you know?

The update’s available to download now on PS5, and the patch notes outline five key fixes:

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when viewing Creations.
  • Resolved a crash that could sometimes occur when making an autosave.
  • Resolved a crash that could occur when Creations contained legacy data.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when removing certain types of items in Outpost mode.
  • General crash and stability fixes.

The automatic saving feature is incredibly frustrating – it’s almost unbelievable that Bethesda could mess up something so basic in a game.

Hopefully, this update will finally fix the crashing issues in Starfield, but after so many problems, it’s probably best not to get too excited just yet. We’ll see if it actually works…
