Forza Horizon 6 Has Already More Than Doubled Forza Horizon 5’s Concurrent Peak on Steam

Not only is Forza Horizon 6 the second best-selling game on Steam, but it’s also proving more popular than its previous version. SteamDB data shows that it currently has over 168,000 players playing at the same time – more than twice the highest number of concurrent players Forza Horizon 5 ever reached (around 81,000).

Here’s the surprising part: the open-world racing game is available right now, but in a limited way. Currently, only players who purchased the $120 Premium Edition on Steam can play. However, those with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass can buy an upgrade to access the game early too, which should significantly increase the number of players.

Even so, Forza Horizon 6 is off to a fantastic start, receiving a lot of positive attention from reviewers before it even came out. Currently, it’s the top-rated game on Metacritic for 2026, with a score of 92 based on 65 reviews for Xbox Series X/S. However, given how popular Forza Horizon 5 was – it also earned a 92 Metascore from 103 reviews – this level of success isn’t entirely surprising.

Players with standard Game Pass (not Premium) can begin playing Forza Horizon 6 on May 19th at 9:01 PM Pacific Time on both Xbox Series X/S and PC. We thought it was fantastic – our review gave it a 9/10 and highlighted how great it is in almost every way!
