Forza Horizon 6 Is the Highest Rated Game of the Year, But Will Anything Beat It?

As things stand, Forza Horizon 6 is the highest rated game of the year.

Okay, so I’m super hyped for this open-world racing game coming to PS5 in late 2026. It’s getting insane buzz already – it’s currently sitting at a 92 on Metacritic, which is the highest score any game has gotten all year! A couple of others, like Resident Evil Requiem and Saros, almost reached that level, but this racer is still on top.

Microsoft hasn’t announced a specific release date for the PlayStation version of the game, but they still anticipate it will be available later this year, based on information shared with the media.

It seems the development team for the Playground version lacked the capacity to launch the port immediately, which is unfortunate, as it likely would have been a huge success. Despite being released several years after the original, Forza Horizon 5 still managed to sell over five million copies on the PS5.

We anticipate the PS5 version will also receive excellent reviews, leading us to wonder: can anything top it?

Naturally, the frontrunner is GTA 6, the sequel fans have been eagerly awaiting from Rockstar Games, which has been in the works for a long time.

It’s surprising to even put this into words, but anything less than a perfect score would be considered a letdown, and most people expect it to score over 90. For comparison, Grand Theft Auto 5 received a 97 out of 100 back in 2013.

September brings two major game releases: the highly anticipated wuxia RPG Phantom Blade Zero from Chinese developer S-GAME, and Marvel’s Wolverine.

Although it might not be as widely recognized, Insomniac Games has consistently delivered high-quality titles. Both Marvel’s Spider-Man and its sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, received excellent reviews, and the standalone Miles Morales game was also highly praised.

I’m really hoping we get some surprise announcements too, like maybe Metro 2039 or a remake of the original Tomb Raider – Legacy of Atlantis would be amazing! And honestly, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Fable actually comes out when they say it will, because that game looks incredible.

And there may, of course, be other titles we don’t even know about yet.
