SKIMS has found itself part of an unusual predicament.
UK authorities arrested a delivery driver accused of smuggling over £7 million (about $9.5 million) worth of cocaine. The drugs were hidden in a truck transporting items from Kim Kardashian’s clothing line, according to a statement released by the National Crime Agency on May 18th.
Jakub Jan Konkel was stopped by border officials in Essex in September after arriving by ferry from the Netherlands. Although 28 pallets of SKIMS products were scanned, officials determined the shipment was completely legal and unconnected to any smuggling operation, with neither the sender nor receiver involved.
The vehicle had been modified to hide 90 packages of cocaine, each weighing one kilogram and worth approximately £7.2 million on the street, within the rear trailer door.
The device in Konkel’s truck that records speed and distance showed a 16-minute stop he didn’t mention to investigators. Authorities believe this is when the drugs were loaded onto his vehicle.
At first, the Polish man claimed he had no knowledge of the cocaine. However, he later admitted to smuggling the drugs, stating he was paid €4,500 (around $5,200) to do it.
Konkel, 40, was sentenced to 3 years and six months in prison, the NCA confirmed.
According to Paul Orchard, an operations manager with the National Crime Agency, criminal organizations exploit drivers like Konkel to transport illegal drugs, frequently concealing them within legal shipments. This recent operation successfully intercepted a large quantity of cocaine, depriving the smuggling group of substantial profits, and also removed a key facilitator – Konkel – from their network.

Jason Thorn, an Assistant Director with Border Force, highlighted the damaging impact of drug smuggling on communities across the U.K.
He stated that these drugs ruin lives and cause significant harm to our neighborhoods. He affirmed that authorities are working tirelessly to combat crime, secure our borders, and prevent these dangerous substances from reaching our streets.
TopMob News has reached out to SKIMS for comment and has not yet heard back.
