Be warned, this article reveals major plot points from the final episode of The Boys Season 5, “Blood and Bone.” The series concludes the storylines for many key characters, but Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy is left out of the final events. While Butcher and his team storm the White House and Homelander is defeated, leading to a generally happy outcome for most, Vought’s first superhero is sidelined, even though he significantly contributed to the season’s events by providing his son with V-One.
It wasn’t unexpected that Soldier Boy didn’t appear in the finale of The Boys, as showrunner Eric Kripke had previously announced his absence, disappointing many fans. Homelander had frozen him again in the episode before, and since only Homelander knew about it, and the Boys believed Soldier Boy was allied with his son, neither side had a reason to include him in the final fight – or enough time to do so.
Soldier Boy’s Survival Could Be Important To The Boys’ Future
Though he wasn’t part of how the show concluded, freezing Soldier Boy again is a smart move for the story – it leaves the door open for his return in future Vought Cinematic Universe projects. With Vought still operating and Stan Edgar back as temporary CEO, it’s likely someone will find him eventually, and then he could be thawed out and brought back into the action.
So, where could we see more of these characters? Luckily, Prime Video is creating a prequel series called Vought Rising set in the 1950s. Jensen Ackles will return as Soldier Boy, and Aya Cash and Mason Dye will reprise their roles as Stormfront and Bombsight, respectively. While the show will focus on the origins of these heroes, it’s likely we’ll also see stories set after the end of The Boys, and Soldier Boy will probably be a part of them.
It’s uncertain what role he’d play, but if Soldier Boy is still alive, Vought would likely find a way to use him. The show has also hinted that Stormfront might still be alive, and a new series could explore Soldier Boy discovering this – or believing it – and searching for her. This could tie into their history from the 1950s. His absence from the finale makes sense if they plan to bring him back, leaving that possibility open rather than killing him off completely.
You can now watch all five seasons of The Boys on Prime Video. The new show, Vought Rising, is planned to come out in 2027.
