Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Includes 8 New End-Game Missions Against a Pirate Hunter

In addition to new areas and environments, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced expands on the original game’s ending content. According to game director Richard Knight, players can expect eight new missions where Edward Kenway faces off against Robert Miller, a notorious pirate hunter, as reported by Game Informer.

It looks like the new content will focus on what happened to Edward Thatch, and could connect with the Blackbeard’s Treasure quest. According to Knight, these extra missions will allow them to finish that storyline and answer questions players might have about it. Players who want a more complete experience can explore these new threads, but they won’t be required, as the original Edward Kenway story remains unchanged and takes place before these events.

Plus, the game will feature new side quests, as shared by creative director Paul Fu. Several popular characters will also get unique ending missions, which could resolve any remaining storylines. Whether or not these additions will satisfy dedicated fans remains to be seen.

Even so, with the new officers you can recruit – each requiring quests to earn their loyalty – you’ll likely spend around six extra hours playing. While it doesn’t completely replace the missing content like Freedom Cry, Liberation, and multiplayer, it does keep the game centered on Edward Kenway and his pirate crew.

The updated version of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, called Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC starting July 9th. We’ve had a chance to play it and can share what to expect. You can find a full breakdown of the changes here, or learn specifically about the revamped naval combat, which looks particularly impressive.
