7 Greatest Teen Titans Villains of All Time, Ranked by Power

The Teen Titans first appeared in 1964 as a group of young sidekicks, but they became truly popular in the 1980s with a new series by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez. This version of the team stood out because these teenage heroes consistently faced challenges beyond their years, battling incredibly strong villains. Those villains included rival teams, past romantic interests, and even a powerful demonic being connected to one of the Titans’ own family. Throughout it all, the villain Slade Wilson was a constant threat.

Whether you love the Teen Titans from the comics, the classic 2003 cartoon, Teen Titans Go!, or the new DC Universe show, this list ranks the most powerful villains the team has ever faced.

7) The Fearsome Five

The Fearsome Five first appeared in New Teen Titans #3 in 1981, created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez. They were designed as villains specifically for the Teen Titans. The team was founded by Doctor Light, and its other members included Gizmo, Shimmer, Mammoth, and Psimon. While Doctor Light had previously fought the Justice League – even being involved in a controversial storyline in Identity Crisis – he decided to target the younger heroes of the Teen Titans instead. Although the team gained some power after Psimon, an agent of Trigon, took over as leader, the Fearsome Five never managed to be truly successful villains.

6) Terra

Terra wasn’t the strongest villain the Teen Titans ever faced, but her betrayal hurt the most because she was already a member of the team. She nearly destroyed their trust in each other. First appearing in New Teen Titans #26 in 1982, created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, Terra has the power to control earth – she can cause earthquakes, throw rocks, fly using stone platforms, and create shields and weapons from the ground. From the beginning, she was secretly working against the Titans as a spy for Deathstroke during the “Judas Contract” story arc.

5) HIVE

HIVE, which stands for Hierarchy of International Vengeance and Extermination, isn’t a single enemy, but a terrorist organization dedicated to wiping out all superheroes. Over time, different leaders have controlled HIVE, including Damien Darhk, Queen Bee, and Adeline Kane, Deathstroke’s former wife. Because of their frequent collaboration with Deathstroke, the Teen Titans have consistently been a primary target. HIVE uses a variety of resources to accomplish its aims, including skilled scientists, assassins, and individuals with superhuman abilities.

4) Brother Blood

Brother Blood VIII (also known as Sebastian Blood VIII) first appeared in New Teen Titans #21 in 1982, created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez. He’s the leader of the Church of Blood, an ancient cult dating back to the 13th century. This cult has given his family an unnatural lifespan through blood rituals and a magical, cursed cloak. Brother Blood can only be killed by his own son, who then takes on the cloak and inherits his powers. The more followers the Church of Blood has, the stronger Brother Blood becomes. He’s proven to be a dangerous foe, even managing to brainwash Nightwing and steal some of Raven’s abilities. He became even more well-known after appearing as the villain in the animated movie Teen Titans: The Judas Contract.

3) Deathstroke

Deathstroke is best known as the Teen Titans’ main adversary, even if he isn’t their strongest foe overall. Originally introduced in 1980 as Deathstroke the Terminator, by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez in New Teen Titans #2, he’s become a major villain throughout the DC Universe. A former U.S. soldier enhanced by a super-soldier serum, Deathstroke possesses incredible strength, speed, agility, and intelligence. He’s renowned as DC’s most dangerous assassin, having battled heroes like Batman, Green Arrow, and the entire Justice League. He nearly defeated the Teen Titans in the storyline “The Judas Contract” with the help of Terra, and continues to be Nightwing’s biggest enemy.

2) Blackfire

Blackfire, also known as Princess Komand’r, is the older sister of Starfire and the first in line to the throne of Tamaran. She first appeared in New Teen Titans #22 in 1982. Unlike her sister, Blackfire absorbs ultraviolet radiation, transforming it into powerful, destructive energy blasts called Blackbolts. She’s also physically stronger, faster, and more resilient than Starfire. Her actions – betraying Tamaran to the Citadel Empire and enslaving Starfire – created a deep, personal conflict with the Teen Titans, making her one of their primary enemies.

1) Trigon

Trigon is widely considered the Teen Titans’ greatest enemy. First appearing in New Teen Titans #2 in 1980, created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, he’s a massively powerful, interdimensional demon who has conquered countless worlds. What makes him especially dangerous to the Titans is his personal connection to the team – he’s Raven’s father. Trigon’s abilities are immense, including manipulating matter, controlling hundreds of minds at once, and wielding Chaos Magic. In fact, Raven formed the New Teen Titans specifically to fight him, and it took everything the team had to trap him in another dimension.
