Fire Country season 5: Release date speculation and latest news

Although the season 4 finale of Fire Country was released on the same day as its spin-off show, Sheriff Country, leaving fans positively fired up (pardon the pun) for more, they’ll have to wait a little while longer for new episodes.

While the show has been airing weekly in the US as part of CBS’s bumper Friday schedule, fans will have to face a little gap until new episodes as season 5 isn’t set to hit screens until later this year.

The season 4 finale was suitably dramatic, honing in on a catastrophic dam flood which saw Bode (Max Thieriot) and Jake (Jordan Calloway) facing it head-on.

The new season will likely continue to notch up the drama, with a significant change in the format for this upcoming fifth instalment. But when will season 5 of Fire Country be released? Read on to find out.

Fire Country season 5 release date speculation

There’s no confirmed release date for Fire Country season 5 just yet but it’s expected in CBS’s fall schedule. That means it will likely be released some time in September or October, with new episodes airing every Friday in the US.

As for its UK release, seeing as season 4 is yet to premiere on this side of the pond, we’re likely a way off from the fifth season landing on our screens. But when it does, we can expect it to air on Sky Witness and NOW.

How many episodes of Fire Country season 5 will there be?

Earlier this year, it was announced that Fire Country’s fifth season would be its shortest yet, going down to 13 episodes.

As fans will know, its previous seasons have boasted 20 episodes (aside from the second season, which was impacted by the strikes at the time). It’s not the only CBS series to see their episodes slashed, with the likes of Matlock, NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Sydney all having reduced orders for their upcoming instalments.

Nevertheless, we’re sure it’ll still be another stellar run of Fire Country – but there is also another change behind the scenes as showrunner Tia Napolitano exited the series at the end of season 4. Eric Guggenheim – known for his work on Magnum PI and Hawaii Five-0 –will be taking over show-running duties.

On the announcement of Napolitano’s departure, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios President David Stapf said in a joint statement: “Tia has been instrumental in helping both build and steerFire Country, which not only became a top series, but is also the foundation of a growing universe.

“We’re grateful for all her contributions and tireless work, and look forward to collaborating with her on future projects.”

Fire Country season 5 cast: Who will be returning?

It wouldn’t be a season of Fire Country without Max Thieriot leading the cast as Bode Donovan so we’d expect him to be reprising his leading role, along with his core ensemble.

As for people we won’t be seeing going into the fifth season, Vince (Billy Burke) was killed while Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) moved, somewhat leaving the door open to a potential future return.

The cast we’d expect to return for Fire Country season 5 are as follows:

  • Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan
  • Diane Farr as Sharon Leone
  • Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez
  • Jules Latimer as Eve Edwards
  • Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford

Is there a trailer for Fire Country season 5?
